남강유역 청동기시대 후기 취락구조와 성격

국문 초록

청동기시대 후기의 취락구조의 변화는 여러 사회구성요소들의 변화와 함께 대규모 취락을 중심으로 집약농경과 사회적 위계화를 나타나게 하였다. 남강유역은 청동기시대 후기가 되면 다양한 규모의 취락들이 일정한 거리를 두고 배치된다. 이 중 진주 대평리취락은 남강유역의 중심취락으로서 취락 간의 관계를 논의하는 데에 있어서 가장 중심이 되는 유적이다. 특히 대규모의 경작지 및 옥 가공품의 출토로 집약농경이나 수공업생산 등 취락의 다양한 양상을 파악하는 데도 중요하다. 대평리취락의 규모는 청동기시대 후기의 경제적, 정치적 권력의 초기 복합적 중심지 중의 하나로써 그 중요성을 나타낸다. 특히, 인접한 소남리취락과 상촌리취락과는 각각의 공간을 점유하여 친밀관계를 갖고 공유된 사회적 정체성을 통해서 연결된 하나의 공동체로 생각된다. 취락의 공간구조 분석을 통해서 대평리취락 주변에는 취락구성요소가 대평리취락과 유사하나 규모가 작은 소남리취락, 상촌리취락, 가호동취락, 초전동취락 등이 위치하고, 제사집단으로는 진주 이곡리취락, 산청 묵곡리취락 등이 있어 그 규모와 성격 등을 이해할 수 있다. 청동기시대 후기전반 남강유역의 전반적인 취락구조는 중서부지역과 달리 중심취락과 소취락의 구분이 명확하지는 않아, 사회분화가 덜 진전된 상황으로 이해할 수 있다. 하지만 대평리취락의 구조 및 수공업품 생산과 분배양상을 통해 볼 때, 취락 간에 초보적인 네트워크 전략이 구사되고 있으며, 서서히 위계화가 진전되는 양상을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

Changes in the settlement structure during the Late Bronze Age as well as changes in various other social elements indicate the intensive agriculture and social hierarchy centering on the large scale settlement. In Nam river region during the Late Bronze Age, settlements in various sizes are arranged keeping a certain distance from each other. Daepyeong-ri settlement in Jinju, for example, was the central settlement of the Nam river region, and it was the key remains when it comes to the relation between settlements. Especially, such remains including large-size farms and gem processed goods were vital in grasping the various aspects of settlements such as intensive agriculture or handicraft manufacturing industry. The value of Daepyeong-ri settlement is of significance as one of the complex centers in early times in terms of economy and politics during the Late Bronze Age. Particularly, with neighboring Sonam-ri settlement and Sangchon-ri settlement, it indicates that they had close relationship and were connected to each other with the social identity. Around Daepyeong-ri settlement, there are Sonam-ri settlement, Sangchon-ri settlement, Gaho-dong settlement, Chojeon-dong settlement, and so forth, which were similar to Daepyeong-ri settlement in terms of structural elements but were smaller than the latter. Among the groups for sacrificial rites, there were Igong-ri in Jinju, Mukgong-ri in Sancheong, and so forth. As for the general structure of the settlements over the Nam river region during the Late Bronze Age, not very distinctive was the division between the central settlement and minor settlements as in the Middle West region. It seems that this reflects the less advanced social specialization over the Nam river region during the Late Bronze Age.
