국문 초록

이 논문의 목표는 다종 혼성 예술가인 동시에 다양한 예술 장르에 발자취를 남긴 콕토가 고대 비극 『오이디푸스 왕』을 현대적으로 재해석하여 만든 『지옥의 기계La machine infernale』에서 희극성과 비극성을 동시에 사용하여 현대 프랑스 연극에서 개척한 새로운 극작법의 영역을 분석하고, 『고도를 기다리며』를 통해 전 세계에 새로운 연극을 각인시킨 베케트의 혁신적인 연극기법들을 서사극의 관점에서 검토하는 것이다. 기존의 연극의 존재양식을 거부하는 베케트의 부조리극과 콕토의 연극은 연극의 표현양식을 쇄신시키게 되는데 이는 브레히트 연극의 근간이 되는 서사극의 소격효과 기법을 보여준다. 그런데 베케트의 부조리극은 정치 사회적인 면에서는 브레히트의 서사극과 그 양상을 달리 하지만 서사극 기법을 이용하여 연극의 다양한 형식적인 의미를 생산한 위대한 연극미학이고 시학이다. 이처럼 현대 프랑스 연극은 서양의 전통적인 연극과 근본적인 단절로 표현되고, 기존의 이론적 정의 넘어선 양상을 보여주었다. 그 결과 새로운 양식의 연극예술이 존재하게 되었다. 최근 새로운 매체와 문화예술의 만남을 통해 경제적 가치를 창출하여 문화상품을 만드는 문화콘텐츠 산업이 중요한 문화와 예술 영역으로 등장하고 있다. 서사극 기법을 활용할 수 있는 디지로그의 세계가 공연예술계의 화두가 되고 대중의 관심과 수요가 증가하는 오늘날, 본 논문에서 영상매체에 적극 활용될 수 있는 서사극 기법이 공연예술과 영상예술에서 새로운 문화 콘텐츠의 시발점의 가능성을 보여주고 있듯이, 본 연구의 결과는 서사극의 인문학적 상상력을 문화콘텐츠의 서사 전략에 결부시킴으로써 문화콘텐츠의 영역에서도 응용될 것으로 판단된다.

영문 초록

Jean Cocteau or Samuel Beckett was one of the most original and provocative Western playwrights of the twentiety-century. In contemporary French theater, playwrights like Samuel Beckett or Jean Cocteau revolutionizing theatrical eciture introduce the theatrical technique of Brecht’s alienation effect. The purpose of this paper is to understand the problem of the type shown in Cocteau’s The infernal machine and Beckett’s Waiting for Godot which explore the modern epic as an independent scene techniques and the techniques of meta-theatrical effect. Alienation effect, also called estrangement effect, is a narration technique fo the stage that makes audiences familiar environments unfamiliar. Their alienation effect involves the use of techniques designed to distance the audience from emotional involvement in the play by the recognition of the artificiality of the theatrical performance. Think to the public, they want to destroy the illusion of realistic theatrical representation asleep critical thinking. This is a process that tends to save away the freedom of thought of the beholder. It is easy to see that scene from the ancient to the modern stage of Cocteau, Oedipus the mythical discourse undergoes a series of moves, shifts, changes. He used a set of devices in staging, acting, and the telling of parable, to confound an audience’s comfortable identification with characters and story as encouraged by conventional realism or naturalism. Beckett conceived the alienation effect as a specific aesthetic form. Beckett’s theater within the theater is the theater reflecting itself, on ilts own paradoxical seeeming.
