조선 후기 공신의 녹훈과 특권에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 논문은 17세기 이후 공신이 국가로부터 부여받은 특권의 시기적 변화 양상 및 구체적인 내용과 특징을 고찰하기 위하여 작성되었다. 첫째, 녹훈 당시 공신에게 주었던 특권을 살펴보기 위하여 공신교서를 분석하였다. 인조대부터 영조대까지의 공신은 녹훈 시기와 상관없이 동일한 내용의 특권을 받았으나, 선조와 광해군대에는 임진왜란의 영향 및 재정상의 이유 등으로 그 규모가 축소되었다. 또한 녹훈 당시에 약속한 사패재산이 지급되는 데에는 상당한 기간이 소요되었던 것을 확인하였는데, 이는 공신을 위한 재원이 충분히 마련되지 못한 점, 지급 절차상의 문제 등을 주요 원인으로 거론할 수 있다. 둘째, 녹훈 이후에 공신에게 주었던 특권 중에서는 녹봉의 지급과 봉군 및 추증에 대해서 살펴보았다. 우선 17세기 이후로 공신에게 안정적인 경제적 기반을 마련해주기 위해서 관직에 종사하지 않더라도 녹봉을 받을 수 있는 규례를 마련하였다. 또한 실직을 거치지 않고 봉군된 공신을 대상으로 실직을 추증해주는 규례를 마련하여 공신들의 명예를 높여주었다. 이처럼 공신은 기본적으로 공신교서를 통해서 특권을 인정받았으나 그 내용은 시대적 상황에 따라 조금씩 차이를 보이기도 하였다. 그리고 17세기 이후로는 녹봉의 지급, 실직의 추증 등의 특권을 새롭게 보장받았기 때문에, 결과적으로 특권의 범위가 확대되었던 사실을 확인할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this thesis is to study the chronological changes of the privileges granted to meritorious subjects since the 17th century and their specific contents and characteristics. First, it analyzed the royal certificate of meritorious subject to examine the privileges given to the meritorious subjects at the time of investiture. The meritorious subjects from the reign of King Injo to King Yeongjo received the same privileges and awards regardless of the time of the investiture, but during the reign of King Seonjo and King Gwanghae, the scale was reduced due to the influence of Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, and financial reasons. It also shows that it took a considerable period of time to be provided the promised awarded properties at the time of investiture, and the main reasons are insufficient funds and problems in the payment procedure. Second, it examined the providing stipend and Gun designate and posthumous conferment of honors among the privileges given to the meritorious subjects after the investiture. First of all, in order to provide a stable economic foundation for meritorious retainers after the 17th century, a new regulation was made that allowed them to receive a stipend even if they were not engaged in government service. In addition, it raised the honor of the meritorious subjects by preparing regulations to be given posthumous title through royal edicts for the designated meritorious subjects. As such, the meritorious subjects were basically granted their privileges through the royal certificate, but the contents differed slightly depending on historical background. It found that the scope of privileges had been expanded as a result because the privileges were newly guaranteed, such as provided stipend and posthumous title through royal edicts since the 17th century.
