국문 초록

본 연구는 Huizinga와 Caillois의 사회문화적 관점에서 놀이의 의미를 살펴봄으로써 그들의 놀이 이론이 유아교육에 주는 시사점을 알아보고자 하였다. 첫 번째 시사점은 놀이는 놀이 행위 그 자체를 의미하며, 놀이 자체가 목적이 되어야 한다는 것이다. 이는 유아교육에서 놀이를 유아 전인발달의 매개체로 보기 보다는 놀이 자체를 교육의 목적으로 보아야 한다는 것을 시사하고 있다. 두 번째 시사점은 놀이는 일정한 규칙이 있고 그 규칙을 내면화하는 것이 사회문화적 상호작용이고 이는 놀이를 통해 이루어진다는 것이다. 이는 사회문화적 구성주의인 Vygotsky의 내면화 이론를 지지해 주는 것으로 놀이와 교육에 사회문화적 맥락이 중요함을 시사하고 있다. 즉 유아들은 놀이를 통하여 그들의 사회문화를 자연스럽게 내면화한다는 것을 알 수 있다. 마지막 시사점은 놀이는 재미를 최우선으로 추구하며 자유롭고, 몰입을 동반한 행위라는 것이다. 유아들은 자유롭게 선택한 놀이에서 재미를 느끼고 몰입을 통한 긍정적 정서와 행동의 자유를 얻게 되므로, 유아교육에서 유아의 흥미와 능동성을 강조하는 놀이중심 유아교육을 강조하고 있다는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the implications of Huizinga and Caillois s play theory to early childhood education by looking at the meaning of play from a sociocultural perspective, focusing on the play theory of Huizinga and Caillois. The first implication is that play means the act of play itself, and that play itself should be the goal. This suggests that the play itself should be viewed for educational purposes rather than as a medium of early childhood development in early childhood education. The second implication is that play has certain rules and internalizing the rules is a sociocultural interaction, which is achieved through play. This is in line with Vygotsky s claim, and we can find common ground. Therefore children can see through play that their social culture is internalized naturally. The third implication is that play pursues fun as a top priority, and it is free and flow. So, in the early childhood education, the emphasis is on play-centered early childhood education, that emphasizes the interest and activeness of the child.
