만 3세 유아의 말하기·듣기능력이 내·외적 학습동기에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 만 3세 유아의 말하기·듣기능력의 하위요인이 유아의 내적·외적 학습동기에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 알아보는 것이다. 연구대상은 전국 16개 유아교육기관의 만 3세 유아 221명이다. 담임교사 23명이 질문지를 이용해 유아의 말하기·듣기능력과 학습동기를 평가하였다. Cronbach s α 계수, 왜도와 첨도를 산출하고, 변인들 간의 관계를 살펴보기 위한 Pearson의 적률상관분석과 유아의 말하기·듣기능력의 하위요인이 유아의 내적·외적 학습동기에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 알아보기 위한 단계적 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 유아의 말하기 및 듣기능력의 하위요인 모두 내적 학습동기와 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 외적 학습동기는 유아의 듣기 태도 및 반응과 유의한 정적 상관이 있었다. 둘째, 유아의 듣기 이해와 태도, 담화구성 능력이 우수할수록 내적 학습동기가 강하고, 듣기 태도가 좋을수록 외적 학습동기가 강했다. 만 3세 유아의 말하기·듣기능력은 내적 학습동기를 높이는 데 중요한 변인이고, 인정, 칭찬, 격려와 같은 외적 학습동기도 어린 유아에게 의미가 있다. 유아의 음성언어 발달을 돕는 양육과 교육 환경 조성 및 프로그램의 개발이 요구된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relative influence of subfactors of three-year-old children s speaking and listening ability on their intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in a classroom-based setting. Twenty-three teachers of 6 kindergartens and 16 daycare centers rated 221 three-year-old children s speaking and listening ability and their learning motivation. According to the results, children s intrinsic motivation was positively correlated with all subfactors of their speaking and listening ability. Their extrinsic motivation was positively correlated only with their listening attitude and response. When children s gender was controlled, children s listening comprehension skills and attitude positively predicted their intrinsic motivation. Children s discourse abilities also influenced their intrinsic motivation. Meanwhile, only the listening attitude predicted children s extrinsic motivation in classroom-based setting. Three-year-old children s listening and speaking abilities play important role in explaining their intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation, resulted from approval, praise, and encouragement, can be also meaningful for young children s development. Therefore, we recommend developing and implementing programs which aim to support young children s spoken language development as one way to support children s motivation in learning.
