유아역사교육에 대한 유아교사의 인식과 유아역사교육의 실태

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아역사교육에 대한 유아교사의 인식과 유아역사교육의 실태를 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구는 광주광역시와 전라남도의 유아교육기관에 근무하는 438명의 유아교사를 대상으로 설문조사를 시행하였으며, 빈도분석과 교차분석을 사용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 첫 번째 연구문제의 연구결과는 유아역사교육에 대한 유아교사의 관심이 매우 높으며 유아역사교육의 필요성을 강하게 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 유아교사 대부분은 역사교육의 주요 개념인 시간, 변화, 지속성이 유아역사교육에 포함됨을 알고 있었다. 두 번째 연구문제의 연구결과는 유아역사교육의 방법으로 이야기가 가장 많이 사용되며, 특별한 날이나 행사가 있을 때 가끔 역사교육이 시행되고 있었다. 이처럼 일회성의 행사로 역사교육이 그치지 않으려면 유아역사교육에 관한 교사교육이 정기적이고 체계적으로 이루어져야 한다. 유아가 과거를 통해 현재를 비판하고 미래를 예측할 수 있도록 역사교육의 주요 개념에 근거한 유아역사교육의 내용과 방법에 대한 교사연수가 시급히 이루어져야 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 역사교육의 주요 개념에 대한 유아교사의 인식을 바탕으로 유아역사교육의 활성화 방안을 제시하는 데 그 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate early childhood teachers’ perception on history education for young children and reality of history education for young children. The subjects of this study were 438 early childhood teachers in Gwangju metropolitan city and JeollaNamdo. This study conducted survey research, and analyzed data using frequency analysis and chi-square test. The results of the first research question showed that early childhood teachers were very interested in history education and strongly felt the necessity of history education for young children. Most of the teachers knew that time, change, and continuity as key concepts of history education were included in history education for young children. The results of the second research question showed that narrative was used most frequently as a method of history education and the teachers conducted occasionally history education when special day or events opened. In order for history education not to be conducted as an one-shot event, teacher education about history education for young children should be operated regularly and systematically. In order for young children to criticize present through past and predict future, teacher training about contents and methods of history education for young children based on key concepts of history education should be operated immediately. As a result, it is significant that this study suggests activation plan for history education for young children based on early childhood teachers’ perception on key concepts of history education.
