국문 초록

본고에서 다루는 연구의 대상지역은 일반인들에게 ‘보스니아 내전’을 통 해 보다 더 잘 알려져 있는, 1992년 3월부터 1995년 12월까지 약 3년 9개월 에 걸치는 기간 동안 해체 이전의 유고슬라비아 사회주의 연방공화국으로 부터의 독립을 쟁취하기 위해 세르비아계, 크로아티아계, 무슬림계 주민들 사이에서 내전이 벌어졌었던 ‘보스니아-헤르체고비나(Bosnia-Herzegovina)’ 지역이다. 보스니아는 1992년 유엔 가입 이후 지금까지 독립 국가로 존재한 기간이 30년이 채 안 되는 신생국가이지만, 원주민인 일리리아인(Illirian)들 이 거주하던 신석기시대까지 그 오랜 역사가 거슬러 올라가며, 이후 시간의 흐름에 따라 켈트족, 로마제국, 훈족, 슬라브 민족, 오스만 투르크제국, 오스트리아-헝가리제국 등의 지배 시기를 거치며 다양한 문화적 역량의 축적을 통해 주변 지역들과는 다른 독특한 민족적 정체성을 형성하고 있는 지역이다. 문학의 원류라 할 수 있는 ‘구비문학’은 오랜 세월을 거치며 형성된 집단 적 성격을 가진 문학으로써, 개인작의 문학인 ‘기록문학’과 비교해 볼 때 개 별 민족의 민족적 정체성을 확인하기에 매우 유용한 문학의 분야라 할 수 있다. 나아가 구비문학의 다양한 하위 갈래들 가운데, 오로지 상상력에만 의지하거나 혹은 온전히 현실 세계만을 반영하는 여타 하위 갈래들과 비교 해볼 때 본고에서 대상으로 삼고 있는 ‘구비전설’의 경우에는 민중들의 상상의 세계와 현실 세계가 혼재되어 나타난다는 특징을 보인다. 본고에서는 보스니아 민족이 오랜 삶과 역사를 통해 축적해 온 ‘현실 세 계’와 ‘상상의 세계’가 어떠한 방식과 내용을 통해 구비전설이라는 구비문 학 갈래를 통해 나타나는가 하는 점에 대해 천착(穿鑿)한다.

영문 초록

Oral Literature, which is the origin of literature, is a field of literature that has a collective character formed over a long period of time, and is very useful to identify the ethnic identity of individual ethnic groups compared to the literature of individual works, “Written Literature”. Furthermore, compared to other subdivisions that rely solely on imagination or fully reflect the real world is characterized by a mixture of the people’s imagination and the real world. In the case of legendary works, the individual meaning and related meaning of the world of ‘real’ and ‘imagination’ that are understood from a folklore perspective were identified. The addition of the “world of reality”, the real history and people, the actual architecture and natural objects, as well as the “world of imagination”, a spiritual product of the people, can be seen as having a deep connection with the experiences, customs, religion and culture that the people have experienced in history. It can be seen that historical experiences through the domination of ancient Greece and ancient Rome, the relations with the natives, and the domination of the Middle Ages and the Ottoman Turks, formed during the Middle Ages, play an important role in shaping the tangible and intangible assets. Folk legends hardly penetrate horizontally from one nation to another. They are surrendered vertically as a vow of the stability of a people. Such features are clearly distinguished from the Folktales that does not require evidence, and are also distinct from the Myths based on “imaginary evidence”.
