知訥과 少太山의 생애와 사상 비교 연구

국문 초록

본 논문은 불일보조국사 지눌국사(1158~1210)와 원불교를 창시한 소태산대종사(1891~1943)의 생애와 구도과정, 그리고 주요사상 등을 비교 고찰하는데 목적이 있다. 한국 불교사에서 기라성 같은 고승들이 많았지만 두 분의 특이점은 불교개혁을 이루고자 결사를 통해 획기적인 새로운 전기를 마련한 점이다. 특히나 두 분의 생애와 사상의 유사점에 주목하지 않을 수 없는데, 두 분의 저술을 천착하면서 상통하는 구도과정과 사상을 찾을 수 있었다. 지눌국사는 1700년에 가까운 역사를 지닌 한국불교에서 원효성사와 함께 한국불교의 양대 산맥이라 할 수 있고, 소태산대종사는 후천문명을 여는 주세불로 신앙되고 있는 분으로 두 분의 연관성을 고찰하기 위해서는 다양한 분야에서 연결고리가 필요한데 본 논문에서는 특히 개인의 구도과정 보다는 불교개혁의 결사를 한 점과 금강경을 立法으로 정혜쌍수, 돈오점수와 지행일치의 수행체계를 수립한 점을 중심으로 고찰하였다. 아울러 본 논문에서는 두 분의 저서를 중심으로 객관적인 문헌과 자료를 전거로 삼았다. 소태산대종사께서『대종경』부촉품 제10장에서 언급하신 “내가 다생 겁래로 많은 회상을 열어 왔으나 이 회상이 가장 판이 크다”고 한 것처럼 고려 중반 이후 禪敎 갈등과 현세의 탐욕에 물든 혼탁한 분위기를 정화하고 정법안장 열반묘심을 재현하기 위해 그 수행원리로 정혜쌍수를 제시하고 이를 실천하기 위해 定慧結社를 세운 지눌국사의 대발원이 700여년을 뛰어 넘어 조선 말기 대개벽기에 새로운 주세불로서 가장 큰 회상을 열고 一圓相의 진리를 굴린 소태산대종사로 이어지는 것이다. 앞으로 두 분의 일생과 구도과정 그리고 수행법과 불교개혁을 위한 결사에서의 유사점에 대한 연구가 활발해져 이에 대한 보다 실증적인 규명이 이루어지기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to compare the Life and Thoughts of the Jinul(1158~1210)and Sotansan(1891-1943). There are many ancient Buddhist priests in the history of Korean Buddhism, but they have brought new breakthroughs through the association for the practice of Buddhist reform. In particular, I can not help but pay attention to the relationship between the life and thought of the two people. I can see that I can find the spirit and ideas that connect with each other while deeply researching them. Jinul is a Korean Buddhist with a history close to 1700. It is one of the two major mountain ranges of Korean Buddhism together with Wonhyo. In this paper, we will focus on the point that the Buddhist reform movement and The Sutra of the Diamond Sutra. Therefore, in this paper, In order to examine the relationship between the two, we need a link in various fields. The objective was to focus on objective documents and materials, such as those written directly by the author. As Sotansan promulgated in『Daejonggyeon』in Chapter 10, Daejongsa said, I have opened many recollections Several(多生), but since this recollection is the biggest one Since mid-Goryeo, Jinul has tried to clarify the muddy atmosphere of the mission conflict and the covetousness of the world and to preserve Jeong Hye-ssu(定慧雙修) as the principle of execution and to set up the Jeong hye-Association(慧慧結社) to practice it, In order to complete the vow over the past 700 years, to come to the end of the Joseon Dynasty and to open the biggest recollections and to open the Il-Won-sang truth. In the future, I hope that this study will lead to a more logical analysis of the relationship between the life, seeking for truth and the principle of execution, and the method of execution between the two of them. Because these academic attempts can close to truth which is difficult to explain.
