국문 초록

북한 정권을 유지하는데 음악은 핵심요소다. 음악은 인민교양을 위한 선전수단으로써 사상성을 고취하는 역할을 한다. 북한은 음악의 감화력으로 정치를 펴나가는 것이 당의 전통이며 독특한 정치방식이라면서 음악정치를 표방하고 있다. 음악정치는 선군정치를 실현하기 위한 음악예술분야의 전략으로 규정할 수 있다. 선군정치를 실현하기 위한 전략과 수단으로 활용되는 음악은 북한 사회 전 분야에 걸쳐 조직된다. 음악소조 활동을 통해 군인들의 사기를 진작하고 사상성을 고취하는가 하면, 군 예술단이 일반주민을 대상으로 음악공연을 펼치기도 한다. 김정일의 음악정치는 김정은 시대‘ 열린 음악정치’라는 형태로 이어진다. 은하수관현악단과 공훈국가합창단이 김정일 시대 선군정치구현을 위한 예술단이었다면, 김정은 시대에는 모란봉악단이 이러한 역할을 수행한다. 이 글에서는 김정일과 김정은 시대 각각 선군정치와 음악의 상관성을 살펴본다. 특히 김정은 시대의 경우‘ 선군 시대 혁명의 나팔수’로 표현되는 모란봉악단의 공연 및 음악무용종합공연을 통해 선군정치의 의미를 분석한다.

영문 초록

Music is one of the essential elements to maintaining the North Korean regime. Music serves to promote the ideological nature of people as a means of their refinement. The North Korean regime claims to support musical politics, stating that it is the party s tradition and unique political approach to do politics through music s power of touching people. Musical politics can be defined as a strategy of realizing military-first politics in the field of music and art. Used as a strategy and tool to realize military- first politics, music is organized across all the aspects of the North Korean society. Extracurricular music activities are used to boost the morale and inspire the morale of soldiers. The military art troupe performs music shows for the general public. Kim Jong-il s musical politics leads to“ open musical politics” in the era of Kim Jong-un. The Eunhasu Orchestra and the Gonghun National Choir served as art troupes to realize military-first politics during the era of Kim Jong-il. It is the Moranbong Band that serves these roles during the era of Kim Jong-un. This paper investigated correlations between military-first politics and music during the eras of Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un. The study especially analyzed the meanings of military-first politics by examining the performances and total shows of music and dance of the Moranbong Band dubbed bugler of revolution in the military-first age during the era of Kim Jong-un.
