유아 교사의 인성, 행복감, 공감 능력과 교사

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아 교사의 인성, 행복감, 공감 능력 및 교사-유아 상호작용 간의 구조적 관계를 알아보는 것에 있다. 연구대상은 경상북도에 소재한 55개소 유치원과 294개소 어린이집에 재직하고 있는 교사 349명이다. 연구 도구는 유아 교사의 인성 척도, 행복감 척도, 공감 능력 척도, 교사-유아 상호작용척도를 본 연구자가 일부 수정·보완하여 사용하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 유아 교사의 일반적 배경에 따른 인성은 연령, 최종교육과정, 교육경력, 직위에서만 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 유아 교사의 일반적 배경에 따른 행복감과 공감 능력은 모두 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났으나 교사-유아 상호작용은 연령, 최종교육과정에서 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아 교사의 인성, 행복감, 공감 능력이 교사-유아 상호작용에 각각 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 유아 교사의 인성이 교사의 행복감, 공감 능력에 각각 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 유아 교사의 인성과 교사-유아 상호작용의 관계에서 행복감과 공감 능력은 각각 매개 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 유아교육 현장에서는 유아 교사를 대상으로 배려와 관심, 존중과 비전을 제시해 주고 영유아 발달에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있도록 유아 교사의 인성을 향상시켜 줄 수 있는 방안이 모색되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to identify the structural relationships among early childhood teacher’s personality, feeling of happiness, and interactions between teachers and toddlers. The subjects of this study were 349 teachers working at 55 kindergartens and 294 daycare centers in Gyeongsangbuk-do. For the research tools were partially modified and used by the researchers to supplement the personality scale, happiness scale, empathy scale, and teacher-child interaction. The study results are as follows: First, significant differences were shown in just age, level of education, education career, and position in terms of personality according to early childhood teacher’s general background. No significant differences were shown in terms of the feeling of happiness and empathic ability according to the teacher’s general background. However significant differences were shown in the age and level of education. Second, the early childhood teacher’s personality, feeling of happiness, and empathic ability affected the interactions between teachers and toddlers, respectively. In the relationships between the early childhood teacher’s personality and interactions between teachers and toddlers showed a mediation effect. In conclusion, in the early childhood education field, measures to improve early childhood teacher’s personality should be sought so that they can positively affect the development of toddlers by showing consideration on, interest in, respect for, and vision to the early childhood teachers.
