증언과 기록, 사실과 허구를 가로지르는 ‘한 명’들의 삶

국문 초록

김숨의 『한 명』은 위안부 피해자들의 증언록을 바탕으로 하여 쓴 소설이다. 1991년 공개증언이 시작된 이래 많은 증언집이 발간된 바 있고 기록이 축적될수록 기록자들은 증언자들의 증언을 어떻게 재현할지 고민했다. ‘역사적 실상’을 파악하는 증거로 채록되었던 증언들은 점차 증언자들을 그들이 살아온 삶 전체의 주체로 인정하고 그 주체적 시선을 담는 방향으로 변화해갔다. 『한 명』 이전에 위안부 피해자들의 증언을 기록한 기록물이 있었고, 이 기록물들은 『한 명』의 전(前)텍스트였다. 기록의 대상이었던 위안부 피해자들이 기록의 과정을 거쳐 복합적이고 역동적인 주체로 재현될 수 있었던 과정을 『한 명』은 따르고 있다. 사실의 기록이 허구화되어가는 과정을 『한 명』이 참조한 텍스트를 통해 더 분명히 알 수 있다. 증언이 끝난 곳에서 이 역사적 사실을 어떻게 더 상상하고 말할 수 있을까. 이는 『한 명』 이후 위안부 서사의 과제이기도 하다.

영문 초록

Kim Sum’s One Person (Han Myeong) is a novel written based on the testimony of Japanese Military Sexual Slavery (known as ‘Comfort Women’). Since the public testimony in 1991, a lot of testimony books have been published and as the documents have been accumulated, recorders ponder on how to represent those testimonies. The testimonies considered as evidences of “historical realities” have eventually regarded as something in which witnesses are recognised as subjects of their whole lives and their subjective gazes are embodied. Before One Person , the documents recorded the testimonies of Comfort Women had existed, and they were pre-texts of One Person . One Person follows the process through which an object of record(Comfort Woman) could be represented as a complex, dynamic subject. Through the reference text of One Person , the fictional process of factual record could be revealed more obviously. From the place where the testimony ends, how can we imagine and speak more this historical fact? This is the mission of the narrative of Comfort Women after One Person.
