국문 초록

본고는 최근 한국 신석기 연구 동향을 비판적으로 파악해보기 위해 작성되었다. 단지 최근의 성과를 학사적으로 정리하는 것을 넘어 한국 신석기연구의 학문생태계가 우려스러운 상황에 놓여있음을 직시하고 그 대응을 고민하고자 하였다. 연구 동향 파악을 위해 최근 5년간의 논문 생산 추이를 검토한 바, 그 이전에 비해 논문 생산 수량이 줄어들고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 함께 최근 연구 경향을 일별하기 위해 사회연결망분석기법(SNA)을 활용하여 논문의 키워드들을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 석기, 농경, 편년, 남해안 등 전통적으로 강세를 보여 온 주요 키워드들이 여전히 상위에 랭크되고 있음을 알 수 있었는데, 비판적으로 보자면 새로운 주제개발이 부족한 상황이라 할 수 있다. 긍정적으로 평가할 수 있는 부분은 중국 동북지역 및 러시아 연해주 지역에 대한 관심의 증대, 토기 연구에서의 종합화 시도, 학사에 대한 관심 증가 등이다. 반면, 신석기유적 발굴의 저조와 이에 따른 신진연구자 배출 저조, 전반적인 연구 성과의 감소, 석기 조성론이나 토기 양식론 등 전통적인 연구방법을 넘어선 새로운 방법론적 모색의 부족 등은 문제점으로 지적될 수 있다. 연구 쟁점의 측면에서는 초창기 고산리식 토기의 세분 편년문제, 고산리 단계 취락의 인정 및 성격문제, 동해안 전기 토기의 실상 문제, 중서부 취락의 변동에 대한 해석 문제 등이 최근 논의되거나 해결되어야 할 문제들이다. 석기나 도구 관련 연구 쟁점이 특별히 도출되지 않는 것은 이 분야에 대한 관심의 저조 현상을 보여준다. 연구 대상 지역 관련해서도 적어도 중국 동북지역과 러시아 연해주 지역, 나아가 중국 북부지역과 시베리아에 대한 관심의 확대가 절실히 요청된다. 이를 위해 동아시아 3국 및 러시아를 포함하는 연구자 그룹 간의 활발한 공동 연구가 필요함을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This paper focused on the recent trends of Korean neolithic researches. Beyond arranging the recent achievements simply, I tried to contemplate that the academic ecosystem of Korea Neolithic Research is in a worrisome situation and consider the responses. In order to identify research trends, the paper production trends of the last five years were reviewed. In addition, to analyze the recent research trends, I analyzed the keywords in the paper using the method of Social Network Analysis. As a result, it can be seen that the major keywords that have traditionally been focused, such as pottery, agriculture, chronology, and the south coast, are still ranked at the top. Positive assessments include increased interest in Northeast China and the Russian Primorye, attempts to synthesize in pottery research, and increased interest in research history. On the other hand, the lack of excavation of neolithic sites and consequent slowdown of emerging researchers, the decline in overall research results, and the lack of new methodological search beyond traditional research methods such as stone tool composition and stylistic approach can be pointed out as problems. In terms of research issues, problems related to the subdivision of Gosan-ri style pottery, Kosan-ri settlement, early phase pottery of the East Coast, and interpretation of fluctuations in the Midwest settlement were recently discussed. The lack of specific research issues regarding stone tools suggests a low interest in this area. In relation to the study area, there is an urgent need to expand interest in at least the northeastern region of China, the Russian coastal region, and further north China and Siberia. This suggests that active collaborative research between groups of researchers including three East Asian countries and Russia is required.
