항공관련학과 학생들의 영어에 대한 인식과 미디어를 활용한 관광 영어 수업에 대한 효과성 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 항공관련학과 대학생들의 영어에 대한 인식을 살펴보고, 미디어를 활용한 관광 영어 수업으로 인한 영어 성취도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 데 있다. 위 연구 내용을 분석하기 위해 충북의 사립 대학교 항공관련학과 학생들 가운데 실험 반 41명을 대상으로 영어에 대한 인식을 설문조사하였고, 82명을 유효 표본으로 실험 반과 통제 반으로 나누어 실험한 후 자료를 분석하였다. 실험에 앞서 두 집단 간의 동질성 분석을 위하여 독립표본 t-test로 비교하고, 대응표본 t-test로 사전, 사후의 실험 효과를 비교하였으며, 사후실험에서 모두 향상이 나타나, 공분산 분석을 통해 사후실험 효과를 다시 검정하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 연구대상자의 영어에 대한 인식에서 항공 관련 학생들의 영어 학습의 주된 목적과 필요성은 국제화 시대에 필수요소이면서 취업에 필요하기 때문인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 이들이 가장 영어에서 가장 어려워하는 영역은 의사소통 영역인 말하기와 쓰기인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 항공관련 학생들의 영어 성취도 평가를 미디어를 활용한 관광 영어 수업을 한 실험 집단과 일반 영어 수업을 한 통제 집단으로 나누어 분석한 결과, 청취(L/C)와 독해(R/C) 영역에서 모두 유의한 성취도 결과가 나타나서 실험 효과가 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand how the perception toward English and media-based ESP(English for Specific Purpose) curriculum influence on academic achievement of students in aviation department. For the research, this study analyzed the valid sample of 82 students from aviation department at a private school in Chung-buk province. To analyze the homogeneity between the groups before the experiment, this study compared the difference through independent sample t-test. Then, this study compared the pre-test and post-test effects based on matching sample t-test. In the post-test, both groups showed improvement in academic achievement. In response, this study re-tested the post-test effect through the covariance analysis. The research results were as follows. (1) In the research subjects’ perception toward English, the subjects learned English as English is an essential element in an era of internationalization, (2) in analysis of media-based English achievement assessment in experimental group and control group, both group showed significant achievement result in listening comprehension and reading comprehension. This showed the effectiveness of the experiment. Based on this research result, this study seeks to suggest how media-based English class influence on students from aviation department.
