1인 가구의 연령계층별 자살 생각 비교연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 1인 가구 형태에 주목하여 연령에 따라 청년, 중ㆍ장년, 노년층으로 집단을 나누고, 집단별 자살 생각에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대해 파악하고자 하였다. 연구 분석을 위해 2017년 지역사회 건강조사 자료를 활용하였다. 연구결과, 혼자 사는 청년보다 중ㆍ장년과 노년의 자살 생각 경험비율이 높은 것으로 나타나 연령계층에 따라 자살 생각에 차이가 있으며, 연령계층별 자살 생각 영향요인도 다른 것으로 나타났다. 연령집단에 따라 공통으로 자살 생각에 가장 큰 예측력을 갖는 변수는 우울감, 일상생활 스트레스, 주관적 건강 순으로 나타났다. 청년 1인 가구에서는 공통요인을 제외하고 걷기운동 빈도가 자살 생각과 연관이 있었다. 중ㆍ장년 1인 가구의 경우 배우자, 경제적 특성, 흡연, 그리고 사회활동참여 및 가족, 이웃, 친구와의 연락 빈도가 자살 생각에 통계적으로 유의한 영향력이 있었으며, 65세 이상 노년 1인 가구의 경우 소득과 직장 유무의 경제적 특성과 고위험 음주, 걷기운동의 빈도 및 사회활동참여빈도가 유의하게 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로, 1인 가구의 비율이 점차 증가하고 있는 지금 이들의 정신건강 문제를 해결하고 건강한 삶을 영위할 수 있도록 1인 가구의 연령계층별 특성 및 욕구를 고려한 사회복지 차원의 예방, 관리 대책의 필요성에 대한 함의를 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting the suicidal thoughts of single person households aged 19 and older. Using 2017 Community Health Survey, grouping them into young, middle-aged, and elderly, it analyzed the differences and effects of related variables on suicidal thoughts by age groups. Suicidal thoughts rate of middle-aged and elderly people was higher than that of young adults. Also, according to age group, logistic regression results showed that there were similarities and differences in suicidal thoughts associated factors. Depression, daily life stress, and subjective health were the most significant predictors of suicidal thoughts regardless of the age group. Except the common factors, the frequency of walking exercise was associated with suicidal thoughts for young single-person households. Among middle-aged people in single-person households, spouse, economic status, smoking, participation in social activities and frequency of contact with family, neighbors, and friends were statistically related to suicidal thoughts. In case of the elderly over 65 years old, income, employment status, high risk drinking, the frequency of walking exercise, and the participation in social activities were found to be associated suicidal thoughts. This study finding shed light on single-person household s psychological difficulties. It also discusses social health and welfare policy implications for improving their psychological well-being.
