우주적 소통의 경험 및 새로운 평등 공동체의 비전으로서의 초창기 기독교인들의 성령체험과 평등 공동체의 실현을 위한 그들의 구체적인 실천들

국문 초록

  본 연구는 지금까지 거의 주목받지 못해온 바 초창기 기독교인들이 가졌던 성령체험의 중요한 일면을 밝혀 보려는 작업이다. 우리는 보통 성령체험이라 할 때 통상적으로 방언이나 예언, 환상, 치유 같은 신비적인 능력이나 현상의 발현, 때로는 눈물을 동반한 참회나 마음이 뜨거워짐 같은 강렬한 감정상의 표출을 생각하고는 한다. 그러나 초창기 기독교인들의 성령체험은 이러한 신비적인 또는 정서적인 차원의 체험에 국한될 수 있는 것이 아니었다. 오히려 그들의 성령체험은 우주적 소통의 경험이었으며 새로운 평등 공동체의 비전을 가지게 되는 체험이었다. 사도행전 2장의 오순절 이야기는 성령 안에서 모든 인류가 민족적 언어적 경계를 넘어 우주적 상호 소통을 이루는 초창기 기독교인들의 경험을 회화적으로 묘사한다. 고린도전서 12:13과 갈라디아서 3:27-28에 나오는 세례 공식문은 초창기 기독교인들이 성령 안에서의 세례를 통하여, 종족과 신분과 성별에 근거한 모든 차별이 무효화되며 모든 사람이 평등한 공동체를 이루는 비전을 가지게 되었음을 증언한다. 평등 공동체의 비전으로서의 성령체험은 구체적인 실천들로 결실을 맺었는데 원시 기독교 공동체에 있어서의 재산의 공유와 필요에 따른 분배(행 2:44-45; 4:32-35), 할례 없는 이방인 선교(행 10장; 15장), 그리고 상하 우열의 구별이 없는 형제자매 공동체의 실천이다. 초창기 기독교인들의 성령체험에 의한 평등 공동체의 비전과 이 비전을 실현시키기 위한 실천들은, 가난한 자들, 사회적 약자들, 소외된 자들의 인권과 존엄성의 회복이 그 중심 주제인 예수의 하느님 나라 선포와 그 나라의 실현을 위해 자신의 온 몸을 던지신 그의 실천과 같은 선상에 있으며 그런 점에서 예수의 정신과 실천의 충실한 계승이라 할 만하다.

영문 초록

  This study is an attempt to elucidate an important aspect of spiritual experience that the early Christians had, to which almost no attention has been paid to these days. When we speak of the spiritual experience, we generally tend to think of mystical abilities and phenomena such as speaking in tongues or prophecy, fantasy, healing, or of emotional outburst such as tearful penitence or warming of heart. However, the spiritual experience of the early Christians can not be limited to the experiences of such mystical or emotional dimension. Rather, their spiritual experience was the experience of sharing universal understanding and having vision of a new egalitarian community. The Pentecostal story of Acts 2 describes the experience of the early Christians graphically that all mankind, in the Holy Spirit, share universally the mutual communication with others beyond the barriers of race and language. The baptismal formula of 1 Cor 12: 13 and Gal 3:27-28 testifies that the early Christians, through the baptism in the Holy Spirit, have a vision toward the egalitarian community in which all discrimination based on race, status, sex is abolished and all people have equal dignity. The spiritual experience as a vision of the egalitarian community resulted in the following concrete practices, such as community of property and its distribution according to the needs in the early Christian community (Acts 2:44-45; 4:32-35), the mission for the gentiles free of circumcision(Acts 10 and 15), and the practice of brotherly and sisterly community without any distintion between the upper and the lower, between the superior and the inferior. The vision of egalitarian community of the early Christians and their practices for such community come into the same line with Jesus" proclamation of the Kingdom of God which centers on restoring the human right and dignity of the poor, the week, and the outcast in the society, and with the devotion of Jesus for the realization
