국문 초록

본고는 구약성서와 꾸란이 공유하는 공통 인물 내러티브를 통해 두 경전 간의 연속성을 긍정함으로써 양자 간에 호혜적 대화가 가능함을 제시하고자 했다.구약성서와 꾸란에 등장하는 공통 인물 내러티브는 일부 세부사항에 있어서의 불일치에도 불구하고, 그들이 공유하는 공통점에 있어서 동일인물이요, 동일 내러티브라는 잠정 결론을 내릴 수 있다. 그들이 차이를 보이는이유는 크게 1) 오랜 전승 과정 속에서의 구전의 변화와 원천 자료의 다양 화가 불가피하였으며, 2) 그 내러티브의 메시지가 들려진 신앙공동체의 삶의 자리가 상이했으며, 3) 무엇보다 그러한 정황에 맞게 설교자였던 무함마드의 의도적이고 창의적인 변용 때문으로 이해할 수 있다.이를 고려한다면, 양자가 가진 그 많은 공통된 강조점이야말로 양 종교의 신자들로 하여금 반목과 갈등, 상호 부정과 배제 대신, 신뢰와 수용, 대 화의 길을 가도록 도전할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to present possibility of reciprocal dialogue between Christianity and Islam by affirming the continuity of the Old Testament and the Quran through the common character narratives that both books share. A provisional conclusion can be made that the common character narratives that appear in both books share the same characters and the same narratives, although the narratives are slightly different when examined in detail. The reasons for narrative inconsistencies in both books have been put forth as follows: first, there is a long gap in the procession of the narrative tradition and usage of different sources; second, there is a different “Setting in Life” (Sitz im Leben) of the people to whom the message is given; and third, above all, Muhammad's intentional and inventive usage of preaching. Accordingly, if these essential factors are considered, the common contents that Christianity and Islam share with these books would challenge believers in both faiths to walk the way of trust, acceptance and reciprocal dialogue, instead of hostility, conflict, and exclusion.
