‘보기[觀]’를 통해 본 『魏晉勝流畵贊』과 『古畫品錄』의 비평적 관점 비교

국문 초록

‘보기[觀]’의 관조방식은 외형으로부터 사물의 본질을 파악하고 그 사물과 다른 사물과의 관계성까지도 간파하는 것이다. 본 논문은 최초의 전문적 회화비평인 顧愷之(345-406)의『魏晉勝流畵贊』과 이를 더 체계화시키고 있는 謝赫(4세기 후반 활동)의 『古畫品錄』 에서 이 ‘보기’의 관조방식을 적용하여 ‘遷想妙得’과 ‘氣韻’의 비평관점의 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다. 고개지는 神, 즉 객관적 대상의 본질표현에 중점을 두는 화가의 창의적 사유에 비평관점을 두었다면, 사혁은 대 상의 본질을 표현하면서도 창작자 주관을 드러내는 新意를 강조하였다. 이들 두 평가가 자리했던 1세기여 동안 객관대상에 상상력을 적용하여 인물의 전형을 형상화하는 것으로부터 창작자의 주관적 창의력이 중시되는 방향으로 비평적 관점이 전환된 것이다. 사혁은 분명 고개지의 영향 하에 있지만 그의 ‘기운’은 주관성이 상당히 첨가된 창작자의 新意로 비평적 관점이 확장되었다.

영문 초록

The contemplative method of ‘viewing’ was to grasp the essence of an object and to perceive its relationship with other objects. This paper focused on the changes in the viewpoints of criticism of ‘Qianxiangmiaode(遷想妙得)’ and ‘Spirit Resonance(氣韻)’ by applying the ‘viewing’ in GuKaizhi’s Famous Paintings of Wei and Jin Dynasties , the first professional painting critic, and XieHe’s Guhua Pinlu which was further systemizes it. If GuKaizhi focused his criticism on the artist’s creativity for expressing the essence of objective character, XièHè emphasized ‘new intention’ that was expressed the essence of the object while revealing the subjectivity of the creator. When these two critics were in about one century, the critical perspective was shifted from applying the creative imagination to the objective character to focusing on the subjective creativity of the painter. Although XieHe was clearly under the influence of GuKaizhi, his ‘Spirit Resonance’ expanded his criticism into ‘new intention’, significantly added to subjective.
