국문 초록

한국의 근대형성 과정에 나타난 특수성을 이해하기 위해서는 먼저 조선에서의 근대의 내생적 도달점을 확인하고 개화파의 일본근대 수용과의 관계를 이해해야 할 것이다. 근대를 개인과 국가의 주체의식의 획득, 주체성 확립에 중점을 두는 경우, 대내적 대외적 평등성을 기초로, 부국강병과 대외적 독립을 추구하고 실체화하는 인간의 창출이 요구된다. 한국은 실학파와 대원군, 동학농민에 의해 사상과 정책, 운동의 영역에서 유교적 전통을 극복하며 근대로 나아가는 과정에서 내생적 근대의 도달점을 확인할 수 있었다. 이후, 개화파에 의한 일본으로부터의 문명개화의 수용은 근대화를 위한 역사적 추동력을 갖지 못했다. 개화파의「권력관심」으로 인해, 집권층과 농민에 설득력을 갖지 못했기 때문이다.

영문 초록

To understand the process of Korea’s unique modernization, we need to confirm the modern Choson Dynasty’s endogenous reaching point and understand the relation regarding the Kaewha(Reform/Enlightenment) party’s acceptance of the Japanese modernism first. If we consider the development of the modernization focusing on attainment of the individuals and national identity and the establishment of the identity, we need to create a person who pursues and substantiates independence from foreign countries and the national prosperity and defense, based on domestic and foreign equality. Korea had been overcoming the tradition of Confucianism regarding ideology, policy and social movement by the Shilhak (True Learning) group, Taewongun, and the Tonghak (Eastern Learning) Peasant and was making progress toward the start, acceptance, and completion of modernism. In this process, we confirmed the reaching point of the endogenous modernity. Later, the acceptance of the modernized Kaewha from Japan by the Kaewha party did not have enough power for modernization. Because of the Kaewha party’s eagerness of authority, it did not have a legitimacy from the governing class and the peasants.
