전통무용영재교육 현황 및 현장 분석

국문 초록

「영재교육진흥법」은 재능이 뛰어난 사람을 조기에 발굴하여 능력과 소질에 맞는 교육을 실시, 개인의 잠재력을 계발하여 국가와 사회 발전에 이바지하게 함을 목적으로 제정되었다. 동법시행령과 「영재교육진흥종합계획」을 통해 다양한 분야의 영재가 육성되고 있으나, 전통예술 그 중에서도 전통무용분야는 영재교육의 사각지대에 있는 것이 분명해 보인다. 전통무용영재 교육이 소수에 의해 이루어지고 있으나 이는 최소한의 국가차원이라고 보여진다. 교육현장의 활성화를 위해서는 지속적 발전을 도모할 수 있는 연구가 바탕이 되어야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 전통무용영재교육 현황 및 현장에 대해 알아보았으며, 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전통예술 영재교육 기관은 전체의 0.4%, 영재교육대상자는 전체의 0.19%에 불과한 것으로 나타났으며, 무용 영재교육 기관은 전체의 0.6%, 영재교육대상자는 전체의 0.23%에 불과한 것으로 나타나 열악한 환경임을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 전통무용분야 영재교육을 실시하는 기관은 단 한 개원, 국가지정 한국예술영재교육원이었으며, 2017년 8월 기준 4명의 전통무용영재만이 선발되어 교육을 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 전통무용영재의 활성화를 위해서는 학교 및 사회, 국가차원의 적극적인 지원이 필요하다고 사료된다. 특히, 전통무용영재성의 탐색, 판별 및 평가도구 개발, 교수방법 제시 등의 연구로 현장을 뒷받침해야 하며, 이와 같은 다양한 논의들이 ‘표준 전통예술영재교육 프로그램’을 제시할 수 있는 수준까지 이어져야 한다. 전통무용영재교육의 대상자와 교육기관이 타 예술분야에 비해 부족한 것은 통계적 수치로 볼 때 수요가 낮기 때문에 부족한 것은 어쩔 수 없는 현상이라고 이해 할 수도 있다. 그러나 전통예술과 전통무용의 의미를 생각해보면 그렇지 않다. 전통예술은 사회적 지지와 국가의 지원이 필수적이다. 본 연구가 전통무용영재교육 논의의 시발점이 되어 다양한 연구들을 이끌어 내고, 교육현장에 적용될 수 있는 유의미한 연구결과들이 나오길 기대한다. 또 이러한 연구가 전통무용영재 교육현장에 긍정적 영향을 끼쳐 저변 확대까지 이어지는 선순환적 구조가 형성되기를 바란다.

영문 초록

The “Act on the Promotion of Specific Education for Brilliant Children” was enacted in order to unearth talented people early and educate them accordingly to their ability and qualities so that they could develop their potential and contribute to the development of the nation and society. Even though many gifted students in various fields are being fostered through the Enforcement Decree of the Act and the “Comprehensive Plan for Gifted Education Promotion,” the field of traditional dance, among other traditional arts, seems to be in the blind spot of gifted education. Traditional dance gifted education is conducted by a small number of people, but it seems like its reaching only a minimal national level. In order to activate the education field, research should be based on continuous development. This study analyzed the current state and field of traditional dance gifted education. The results of this study are as follows: First, only 0.4 % of the total gifted education institutions and 0.19% of total gifted education recipients are related to traditional arts and only 0.6% of total gifted education institutions and 0.23% of total gifted education recipients are related to dance. These statistics prove the poor environment for the previously mentioned fields. Second, it was found that the only institution that provides traditional dance gifted education was the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts, and only four traditional dance gifted students were selected for education as of August 2017. Third, it is necessary to receive active support at the school, society, and the national level in order to activate the traditional dance gifted. In particular, it is important to support the field through research such as talent-searching and identification, evaluation tool development, and teaching method presentation for traditional dance gifted. These kinds of discussions should lead to the level of suggesting “Standards for Traditional Arts Gifted Education Program.” It is hoped that this study will be a starting point leading various research for traditional dance gifted education and applied to the educational field to cause a virtuous circle structure that connects to the base expansion of the traditional dance gifted.
