대학의 교육성과에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석

국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 대학의 교육성과를 정의하고, 이 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인을 찾는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 종속변인인 교육성과를 목표 달성의 효과성과 효율성, 학습 성과, 취업률, 재학생 충원율 등으로 정의하였고 교육성과에 영향을 미치는 요인을 교육기반시설, 재정지원, 교원, 수업으로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 2012년부터 2014년까지 대학알리미에 제출된 자료를 활용하였고 238개교 중 일반대학 164개교, 교육대학 10개교를 분석에 포함시켰다. 교육성과에 영향을 미치는 변인을 확인하기 위해 독립 변인과 종속변인간의 상관분석과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석을 바탕으로 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육성과 중 재학생 충원율에 영향을 주는 요인은 교지확보율, 등록금, 강사료, 전임교원확보율, 전임교원 강의담당 비율, 정부재정지원수혜액, 학생1인당개설학점수 등이었다. 둘째, 취업률에 영향을 주는 요인으로는 교지확보율, 학생1인당장서수, 교육비, 전임교원강의담당비율, 소규모 강좌 비율 등이었다. 그런데, 이러한 요인 중 다수가 교육성과에 부적인 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다. 즉, 교육성과에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 것으로 기대되는 시설 및 인력 기반 환경이 반대의 결과를 보이고 있다는 점이다. 이는 교육성과가 전혀 다른 요인에 의해 결정되고 있던지, 우리나라 환경에서 재학생 충원율과 취업률이 교육성과로서 적합하지 않음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to define the academic performance of a university and identify the factors that affect it. For this purpose, the research has defined ‘academic performance’ as a combination of different factors such as effectiveness and efficiency of achieving goals, learnability (the difference of a student after the educational activity), graduate employability, and recruiting rate. After that, the open data from HESA was used to find the factors which affect academic performance. Results obtained based on the analysis of collected data are as follows. First, factors that affected recruitment rate were the rate of land acquisition, registration fee, tuition, fulltime employment rate, ratio of classes taught by full time employees, government financial support, average credits opened per students, etc. Second, factors that affected graduate employability were the rate of land acquisition, books owned per student, education fee, ratio of classes taught by fulltime employees, ratio of smallsized classes, etc. However, many of these factors were found to have a negative impact on academic performance. For example, schools with higher dormitory occupancy rates had lower employment rates, and the higher the fulltime employment rate, the lower the recruitment rate. Simply put, facility and human resourcebased environments which is expected to have a positive impact on academic performance are showing opposite results. This suggests that academic performance is determined by completely different factors, or that the graduate employability and recruitment rate are not suitable for measuring academic performance
