영문 초록

In this paper, I want to study on the inheritance of keepsakes　made as part of funeral ritual. Inheritance of keepsakes is a ritual that temporary give presents to a distribute. However, it is assumed that the keepsakes had a very important meaning in the relationship with the dead. Especially, as a case of the Saga clan, I analyzed features and changing patterns of the inheritance in Daimyo society during the 18th century, and then examined the situation of the daimyo society s association. Through the inventory of lords and wives of lord’s belongings, it was confirmed that keepsakes were divided some of the relatives, as well as vassals. Furthermore he also contributed keepsakes to the Shogun and his legal wife, as well as to important vassals in shogunate government at the beginning. However, due to the prohibition order on dedicating of belongings in 1722, a lord didn’t dedicate his belongings to the Shogun and his legal wife any longer, so it was reduced sharply number of vassals who had inherited. Also, there was a distinction between the gender of the inherited person, those were swords, stationery, and artworks that were given to men, while women were taken many stationery, art goods, incense tools, and tea ceremony etc. Also, the position of the item was based on the status of the heir. Although there were various conditions from the political influence of the heir to the affinity and the rarity of the item in the target person, it was confirmed that it gradually was fixed and followed the precedent.
