EFL Learners’ Perceptions of an Online-based TOEIC Course: A Case of Junior College Students

영문 초록

The purpose of this present study is to explore students’ perceptions about online TOEIC course and learning experience and to examine the efficiency of an online-based TOEIC course for low-level English learners. For data collection, the participants were given both pre-survey and post-survey questionnaires with open-ended questions. The findings show that the online TOEIC course was perceived to help the students’ listening skills and memorization of vocabulary. It was also shown that the online TOEIC course contributed to students’ independent study by enhancing the flexibility of studying. Despite positive perceptions of the online course, participation rate had decreased over the period of online course, and students’ responses regarding self-directed learning were not satisfactory. Lack of interaction and difficulty of concentration during the online course was attributed to students’ low level of satisfaction. Suggestions were made on how to use the online course to help low-level English learners.
