영어권 한국어 학습자를 위한 한국어 의문사

국문 초록

이 연구는 한국어 의문사 활용에 대한 실제적인 정보를 예시를 통해 구체적으로 제시하되 영어 의문사와 대조하는 형식으로 하여 영어권 한국어 학습자들의 이해를 돕고자 하였다. 기존 연구에서의 문법성에 따른 의문사 분류 기준과는 다르게, 이 연구에서는 한국어 의문사를 의사소통 상황에서 의문사가 가리키는 화자의 필요에 따라 분류하였다. 즉 이들은 첫째, 화자가 궁금해 하는 상황요소(사물, 사람, 때, 장소)에 관한 질문으로 ‘무엇, 누구, 언제, 어디’이며, 둘째, 화자가 궁금해 하는 상황요소의 특성 및 종류에 관한 질문인 ‘어떤, 어느, 무슨, 어떻다’이다. 그리고 셋째, 화자가 궁금해 하는 상황요소의 수나 양에 관한 질문인 ‘몇, 얼마’이며, 넷째, 화자가 궁금해 하는 상황 요소의 수단, 방법 및 이유와 원인에 관한 질문인 ‘어떻게, 왜’이다. 이 연구를 통해 영어 의문사와 다른 한국어 의문사의 다양한 형태와 구조 및 쓰임에 대한 영어권 한국어 학습자들의 용이한 이해와 활용을 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study strives to help English-speaking Korean learners understand Korean interrogatives by comparing and contrasting Korean and English interrogatives While previous studies categorize interrogatives by grammar, this study categorizes interrogatives by speakers realistic situational needs. The first category comprises of interrogatives involving what, who, when, where which includes speakers curious situational factors such as objects, people, time and places. The second category comprises of interrogatives involving what kind of, which, what, how which includes specific characters or kinds of speakers curious situational factors. The third category comprises of interrogatives involving how many, how much which includes numbers or quantity of speakers curious situational factors. The forth category comprises of interrogatives involving how, why which includes means, methods, reasons and causes of speakers curious situational factors . This study attempts to explain in detail the usage information of the four categories of interrogatives with according examples. This study expects English-speaking Korean learners to achieve the easy understanding and usage of various forms and structures of Korean interrogatives and how they differ from English interrogatives.
