국문 초록

본 연구에서는 지역출판문화생태계의 ‘생산-유통-소비’ 중 유통영역을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 출판도매업은 서울과 수도권에 편중되어 있었으며, 출판 도소매업 사업체 수는 지역에서 최근 증가하고 있다. 도매업 종사자는 전체적으로 감소하고 있으며, 소매업 종사자는 증가하고 있다. 이 결과는 지역에서 소규모 서점의 등장과 함께 종사자 수가 증가했음을 가리킨다. 동시에 대규모 도매업은 서울과 경기에, 영세 소매 유통업은 지역에 편재되어 있음을 보여준다. 한편, 서점은 전체적으로는 수도권을 포함 모든 지역에서 감소하고 있다. 결과적으로 지역출판유통은 출판문 화생태계의 선순환고리 측면에서 대책들이 수립되어야 하는 상태라 할 수 있다. 정책적, 제도적 개입이 필요한 이유이다.

영문 초록

In this study, I deal with the current status and characteristics of local publishing distribution in the production-distribution -consumption sequence of the local publishing culture ecosystem. The publishing companies reviewed are concentrated in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. Wholesale and retail publishing companies have increased in the region. In addition, the number of workers in the retail industry has been increasing, as opposed to a decrease in wholesale workers. This shows that the number of workers has increased with the emergence of small bookstores in the region. It also shows that wholesale trade handling large-scale distribution is concentrated in Seoul and Gyeonggi province, whereas mostly small retail distribution businesses are ubiquitous in the region. Bookstores have also been found to be somewhat more common in the metropolitan area, but the number of bookstores has been steadily declining in all regions. On the other hand, it should be noted that although their number and power are not yet significant, independent publishers that publish books by individuals or small groups and independent bookstores circulating these books are emerging. Overall, local publishing distribution has the same problems, such as structural contradictions and imperfections, as those found in Korean publishing distribution as a whole, and with the addition of special circumstances such as the narrowing of local markets, the loop of good circulation in the publishing culture ecosystem is collapsing. Therefore, policy and institutional intervention is needed.
