This study was performed to investigated the seasonal characteristics and treatment efficiency of slaughterhouse wastewater at 4 sites in Kyunggi province for 1 year from September 1993 to August 1994. The level of pH, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Suspended Solids and Normal Hexane were determined the summarized results were as follows : 1. The range of pH from pH 6.5 to 7.5 in influent, from pH 7.0 to 7.6 in effluent of slaughter wastewater. 2. The range of BOD was from 1554.4mg/l to 2032.3mg/l in influent and from 65.8mg/l to 100.4mg/l in effluent of slaughterhouse wastewater. In the seasonal variation of slaughterhouse wastewater BOD was the order of winter, spring, autumn and summer, respectly. The highest value was 100.4mg/l in winter and the lowest value was 65.8mg/l in summer BOD in effluent. 3. The range of COD was from 1106.1/l to 1338.5mg/l in influent and from 70.6mg/l to 78.4mg/l in effluent of slaughterhouse wastewater. 4. In the suspended solids concentration, the range of SS was from 947.7mg/l to 1508.9mg/l in influent and from 88.7mg/l to 133.1mg/l in effluent of slaughterhouse wastewater. The highest value was 1508.9mg/l in summer and the lowest was 947.7mg/l in autumn of SS influent. 5. The range of n-Hexane was from 39.2mg/l to 55.1mg/l in influent and from 11.8mg/l to 13.9mg/l in effluent of slaughterhouse wastewater. 6. Efficiency of the slaughterhouse wastewater treatment that the activited sludge process was showing 94.9~96.2% in the removal rate of BOD, 93.1~94.5% in the removal rate of COD and 88.7~91. 1% in the remval rate of SS in effluent.
