초등 영재교육 프로그램으로서의 원예교육 적합성 및 프로그램 주제 개발

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 초등 영재교육에 원예영역을 도입하기 위하여 적용할 수 있는 원예활동 주제를 탐색하여 조직화하며 세부 프로그램을 개발하고 내용의 적합성을 알아보기 위하여 실시하였다. 이를 위해 우리나라 영재교육에 대한 현황을 확인하고 원예활동에 대한 기초적 지식을 탐색하여 영재 교육과정 개발을 위한 자료와 원칙을 탐색하고 분석하였다. 또한, 영재교 육과정의 원칙과 원예활동의 특성을 고려한 초등 원예 영재 프로그램을 개발하고 제시하여 미래지향적 초등 원예 영재교육을 위한 실질적 방안 마련에 목적을 두었다. 본 연구에서 탐색ㆍ개발한 초등 영재교육에 적용가능한 주제와 프로그램 요소, 원예 영재 프로그램, 원예활동도입의 필요성 등을 서울지역 초등교사를 대상으로 설문하여 원예교육으로의 영재교육 필요성 및 적합성을 알아보았다. 본 연구의 결론으로 지금까지 영재교육을 위한 체계화된 원예활동 주제와 프로그램이 없었으며 초등교과에서 차지하는 원예활동의 비중이 낮아 교사의 전문성 신장이 어려웠던 것으로, 따라서 초등 영재교육에 원예활동 적용에 대한 관심을 확대하고 주제 및 프로그램 개발을 적극적으로 모색해 볼 필요가 있겠다. 앞으로 본 논문에서 연구된 초등 영재교육에 적용 가능한 원예활동 주제와 프로그램 요소가 학교 원예활동 및 영재교육의 활성화와 다양화에 유용하게 활용되는 것은 물론 실과 내 원예교육 컨텐츠로도 다양하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore and to systematize horticultural activity topics that can be applied to introduce horticultural areas into the gifted elementary children as special education, to develop detailed programs, and to evaluate the suitability of the contents. In order to achieve the goal of this study, the current status of gifted education in South Korea was researched and the basic knowledge of gardening and horticultural activities was explored. By investigating and analyzing the data and principles of developing gifted education curriculum, the horticultural topics that can be applied to the gifted elementary children as special education can be organized. For the actual application, one topic amongst horticultural activity topics was selected and developed for the elementary gardening program. The result of this study showed that the quantity of gifted education in South Korea was expanded rapidly only into the area of mathematics and science, which is quantitatively appeared to be a biased phenomenon. The theme of horticultural activities was being conducted mainly by one-off experience-oriented one, but the method was found in some of the advanced gardening course and abroad horticultural programs for child experts. With analyzing various horticultural activity topics, ultimate themes, sub themes, and learning topics are classified as for the horticultural activities which can be applied to the gifted education. In order to develop elementary gifted children’s horticultural program, the elementary gifted program curriculum was analyzed; the basic principles of developing gifted program were selected, and the appropriate horticultural activity topics to gifted education were explored. The horticultural gifted program utilizing Vivarium with eight period lessons was also created. As a result of this survey research, horticultural activities applied to elementary gifted program confirmed the positive recognition and a high demand, and the horticultural gifted activities topic of this study and the horticultural program for gifted children obtained high results in all areas, indicating that the suitability has been confirmed. In particular, it was analyzed that the horticultural program can achieve magnificent effects in the areas of personality and creativity.
