국문 초록

이성을 중요시하는 성향은 우리 모두에게 보편적이지만, 일반적으로 “서양”식 사고방식으로 더욱 각인되어있다. 최근 일군의 학자들이 이러한 사고의 틀에 대항하는 사조를 이루며 “정동이론”이라는 이름으로 연구하기 시작하였다. 정동이론은 여러 분야에서 연구되어져 왔으며, 현재 그 공통적 함수는 스피노자와 들뢰즈의 사고라 할 수 있다. 이들은 결국에는 모든 것이 이성도 아니며, 또한 보통의미의 감정상태도 아닌 “정동”으로 통한다고 주장한다. 그것은 정동에 대한 연구가 하나의 주제로 문학작품이나 인간 삶을 파악하는 “총체성”을 무시하지 않으면서도 “비동일성”을 밝히는 작업을 가능하게 하기 때문이다. 본 논문은 포스트모던 윤리학과 숭고미학, 그리고 불교사상을 접목함으로써 정동이론의 목적을 명확히 하고 정동이 론을 통한 문학비평의 미래를 정립하는 데에 기여하는 목표를 지닌다. 따라서 정동 이론에 포스트모던 윤리학과 불교사상을 이용함에 있어 문학비평이론으로 돌아가 많은 논의가 이루어진다. 그러나 정동은 모든 생명과 사물에 내재하는 중심을 이해 하는 본질적 핵심요소에 다가가는 길이기에, 이 논의는 인간의 삶 전체를 조명하는데에도 많은 도움을 줄 수 있으리라 믿는다. 특히 뒷부분에서 우리의 지혜를 고양해주면서도 그 이상의 영적인 힘도 불어넣어주는 불교경전인 􋺷화엄경􋺸을 구체적으 로 다루어진다.

영문 초록

Human tendency to stick to reason has been characterized especially as the “Western” thinking mode. Recently, scholars started to gather their heads together and think under the name, the “affect theor” as a discipline that goes against the traditional Western mode of thought. Affect theory has been conducted in many different fields, but the Spinozean-Deleuzean line of thinking is the representative stream. As they say, in the end, it all comes down to affect, with which we can comprehend non-homogenous totality of an entity, which is neither reason nor ordinary emotion and which is the best vision for mankind. For my part, I would like to contribute to the work of advancing affect theory by linking postmodern ethics and Buddhist philosophy for literary studies (not as a religion). I would like to open my discussion of Buddhist philosophy as the a new way of revealing the genuine nature of affect. Of course, my whole discussion is to contribute to literary criticism, and thus I will always be referring back to literary criticism and theory. Toward the end, this paper discusses The Avatamsaka Sutra, which has spiritual power to comprehend the inherent essence of all beings and things to which we can approach with affectus.
