교사 자발성의 원리 재구성

국문 초록

이 논문은 듀이의 자유주의 개념을 통하여 교사 자발성의 원리를 재구성하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 교사 문화의 생성과정을 분석하고 교사의 자발성이 실제 교육현장에서 어떻게 왜곡되고 있는지 살펴보았다. 개인주의의 영향으로 교사들은 견제, 자발성의 억제와 같은 소극적인 자유를 추구하게 되었고, 개인과 공동체를 분리하는 과정에서 의례화, 순응의 형태로 개 인적 차원의 자유를 추구하였다. 신자유주의 영향으로 교사들은 전문성을 개인적 차원의 영역으로 한정하고, 양적으로 측정 가능하다고 인식하였으며, 이런 현상은 경쟁에서의 생존을 위한 개인적 전문성 신장의 노력으로 왜곡되었다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해서 듀이가 자유주의에서 지켜야 할 가치로서 제시한 자유, 개별성, 지성의 원리를 교사 자발성의 원리에 적용해보았다. 자유의 원리는 교사의 소극적 자유에서 자발성 실현을 가로막는 상황에서 해방되기 위한 적극적 자유로 전환되어야 함을 보여주었다. 개별성의 원리는 교사의 개별적 특성이 사회 속에서 획득되며 공동체와의 상호작용을 통해서 성장하는 것임을 보여준다. 지성의 원리는 교사의 지성이 사회적 지성, 협력적 지성으로 발전되어야 함을 시사한다. 이 외에도 자유주의에서 강조하는 평등과 이성의 개념 역시 사회적 지성과 연계된 접근이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to reconstruct the principle of the teacher spontaneity through Dewey s concept of liberalism. For this purpose, this paper analyze the process of the teacher culture formation and how it is distorted in actual education field. Through the influence of individualism, the teacher pursued passive freedom, such as check the colleague and suppression of spontaneity, and pursued their own personal freedom in the form of ritualization and adaptation in the process of separating individuals from communities. The effects of neo - liberalism have limited teachers expertise to the domain of the individual dimension, and professionalism has also been quantitatively measured and distorted by the efforts of personal expertise to survive the competition. In order to overcome these limitations, I applied the principles of liberty, individuality, and intelligence, values that should be kept in liberalism by Dewey, to the principle of teacher spontaneity. The principle of liberty has shown that in the passive liberty in the teacher, it must be transformed in to a positive liberty to be liberate from the situation preventing the realization of spontaneous. The principle of individuality shows that the individual characteristics of teachers are acquired in society and are constantly growing through interaction with the community. The principle of intelligence suggests that the teacher intelligence should be developed into social intelligence and collaborative intelligence. In addition, the concept of equality and reason, which is respected in liberalism, also needs to be linked approach with the social intelligence.
