마페졸리(Maffesoli)의 ‘감성적 이성’ 개념을 통해 본 포스트모던 시대 Bildung의 가능성 탐색

국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 프랑스 사회학자 마페졸리가 제안하는 ‘감성적 이성’ 개념을 교육적으로 고찰하고, 그것이 포스트모던 사회에서 지니는 의미를 살펴보는 것에 있다. 포스트모던 시대의 교육 목적은 개인의 자기형성, 즉 Bildung에 있다. 개인의 자기형성은 인간의 이성과 감성이 함께 조화되고 일치될 때 실현될 수 있다. 하지만 모더니티의 이성 중심 사고관은 감성의 소외를 가져 왔으며, 이는 교육에서도 예외가 아니다. 합리적, 과학적 사고를 강조하는 계몽주의 교육관은 Bildung의 실현을 방해하고 있으며 Bildung에 내재한 감성적 요소는 이성에 비해 소홀히 다루어져 왔다. 감성, 상상력 등이 강조되는 현대의 포스트모던 사회에서 Bildung의 실현을 위해서는 반드시 감성적 요소가 고려되어야 한다. 이에 이 논문에서는 먼저 Bildung이 지닌 이성과 감성의 요소에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 다음으로 마페졸리의 ‘감성적 이성’ 개념에 대한 논의가 포스트모던 사회의 교육에 지니는 시사점에 대해 탐색할 것이다. 마페졸리의 ‘감성적 이성’ 개념은 모더니티에서 간과되었던 감성을 이성과 동일한 곳에 위치시키며, 교육에서 Bildung의 가능성에 대한 재고찰의 계기를 마련한다.

영문 초록

This paper is focused on the possibility of Bildung associated with ‘sensitive reason’ that is commonly inherent in the thought of Michel Maffesoli, a French sociologist. The educational purpose of the postmodern era is to foster self-cultivation of man, namely Bildung. Bildung can be realized when human reason and sensitivity are combined and harmonized together. However, modernity s reason-centered thinking has brought emotional alienation to education. Enlightenment educationalist who emphasizes rational and scientific thinking interferes with the realization of Bildung. The emotional element inherent in Bildung has been more neglected compared to reason. Sensitivity and imagination needed to be emphasized. Emotional factors must be considered for the realization of Bildung in the modern postmodern society. In this paper, we first examined elements of reason and sensitivity in Bildung. We then discussed the concept of sensitive reason by Maffesoli and explored its implications for postmodern society education. The concept of Sensitive reason places sensitivities that are overlooked in modernity at the same place as reason. This provides a chance to review the importance of sensitivities in education.
