국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 예술 작품을 통하여 획득하는 교육 내용의 개념을 가다머의 ‘유의미한 전체’에 의거하여 밝히는 것이다. 가다머는, 플라톤이 예술 작품의 원천으로 간주한 ‘신성한 광기’를 ‘자기 망각’으로 해석하고 그 원형을 놀이에서 찾는다. 놀이는 특정한 목표에 묶여 있지 않은 상태로서 행위의 주체인 놀이자가 주도하는 것이 아니라 놀이의 질서, 즉 ‘이리저리로의 움직임’을 따르는 것이다. 가다머에 의하면 예술 작품은 놀이의 존재 양상을 띠면서도 관객의 감상에서 완성된다는 점에서 놀이의 완성된 형태이다. 관객의 감상을 통하여 학습되는 ‘유의미한 전체’는 공유될 수 있는 진리라는 점에서 예술 작품에 들어 있는 교육 내용으로 해석될 수 있다. 유의미한 전체는 그 공유 가능성에 주목하면 초월성을 가지며, 자유로운 자기 표현을 가능케 한다는 점에서 인격성을 지닌다. 유의미한 전체에 들어 있는 이중성, 즉 초월성과 인격성은 교육 내용의 습득과 자유로운 자기 표현이 다르지 않다는 점을 시사한다. 유의미한 전체에 비추어 보면 교육 내용은 창작자와 감상자가 공유하는 것이라는 점에서 개인을 초월하면서도 자기 표현을 가능케 하는 원천이라는 점에서 개인의 삶과 밀착되어 있다. 예술 작품을 통하여 획 득하는 교육 내용은 양립 불가능한 것으로 보이는 초월성과 인격성을 모두 충족시킨다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to clarify the concept of the educational content implied in the work of art. In Plato s Phaedrus, “divine madness” is identified as the origin of creating poems worth teaching for posterity. According to Gadamer, “divine madness” is to be interpreted as the self-forgetfulness. The typical self-forgetfulness is to be found in human play. Gadamer insists that play is not the purpose-directed activity, but purpose-free one. Almost every activity in life is focusing on the purpose, which is the force to persist one’s daily life. In contrast, play has no purpose but to preserve itself. While playing, players are able to forget themselves, for they leave behind the purposes with which they are concerned. According to Gadamer, play has the “to-and-fro movement”, which is an order in play itself. “Human play comes to its true consummation in being art” in virtue of structure. Structure in the work of art corresponds to the movement in human play. The transformation into structure is itself transformation back into the truth, which is otherwise hidden in the purpose-directed activity. Imitation represents the meaningful whole to spectators as well as artists. “The meaningful whole” as the educational content refers to the truth in the work of art. The meaningful whole is not the object of learning which is to be isolated with the learning subject. The meaningful whole has the common worth as well as the self-expression of the learning subject. The meaningful whole as the educational content has the transcendence as well as personality.
