영문 초록

In this study, I examined the symbolism of a well that frequently appears in a sandtray. A well is very meaningful in that it is a specific spot where we obtain water, a type of energy that enables the growth of all things in the universe, and particularly in that it provides humans with drinking water, which is essential to support life, in an old-fashioned manner. In this study, I examined the similarity of the symbolic structure of a well to the human mind and ascertained a well s sanctity, its symbol of fertility and birth, its role as a mediator between consciousness and the unconscious, and its power of regenerating and healing by analyzing various cultures. I also explored the process of individuation through a well, presented in Self-Portrait by poet Yun Dong-ju. In addition, through analysis of sandplay therapy cases and dreams, I looked into a well s symbols, namely a mediator between consciousness and the unconscious, healing power, transcendental function of the unconscious, and negative energy of the unconscious.
