원격대학 성인학습자의 인구학적 특성에 따른 튜터 역할에 대한 필요성 인식 비교

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 원격대학 성인학습자의 인구학적 특성에 따른 튜터 역할에 대한 필요성 인식 차이를 분석하고, 효과적인 튜터링 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 선행연구와 A국립 원격대학에서 운영하는 튜터 제도 현황을 토대로 튜터의 역할을 학습지원, 학사지원, 사회적 지원, 관리적 지원으로 범주화하고, 서울에 소재하는 A국립원격대학의 선취업 후진학 학위과정 학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 유효한 256명의 응답 자료를 분석하였다. 인구학적 특성에 따른 튜터 역할에 대한 필요성 인식 차이를 검증하기 위하여 독립표본 t검증과 일원분산분석(ANOVA)을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 학력, 입학유형, 전공, 학년에 따라 다소 차이가 있으나 튜터의 역할 중 학습지원과 학사지원에 대한 필요성을 상대적으로 높게 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 학력과 입학유형에 따라 튜터의 학습지원 역할에 대한 필요성 인식에 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 고졸학력의 학생과 신입학 학생이 대졸이상 학력의 학생과 편입학 학생보다 학습지원에 대한 필요성을 더 높게 인식하였다. 셋째, 전공과 학년에 따라 튜터의 관리적 지원의 역할에 대한 필요성 인식에 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 경영학 계열 전공과 1학년 학생이 공학계열 전공과 3학년 학생보다 관리적 지원에 대한 필요성을 더 높게 인식하였다. 반면, 학사지원과 사회적 지원은 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 반영하여, 고졸학력, 신입학, 1학년 학생을 대상으로 튜터의 학습지원과 관리적 지원을 강조하였으며, 특히 1학년 학생의 이러닝 준비도 제고를 위하여 맞춤형 튜터링이 필요하다는 것을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception of tutor roles by demographical characteristics of adult learners attending an open university, and also to suggest effective tutoring strategies. Based on the related studies and the tutoring system of A open university, this study categorized tutor roles into learning support, administrative support, social support, and management support. A survey was distributed to the learners attending A open university, who belonged to a specialized bachelor program termed employed first, studying later . Among the survey respondents, 256 valid responses were analyzed for this study. The ttest and ANOVA were conducted to compare perceptions of tutor roles by demographic characteristics of learners. According to the results, first, although there were some differences between level of education, admission type, major, and grade level, the learners recognized a relatively greater need for learning support and administrative support among tutor roles. Second, there were significant differences in perception of the learning support as tutor role by the level of education and the admission type. The learners with only high school education and those who were newly admitted perceived a greater need for learning support as tutor role than the learners with more than a college degree and college transfers. Third, perceptions of the management support as tutor role by major and grade level were significantly different. The learners who were business administration majors and freshmen perceived higher need for the management support as tutor role than the learners who were engineering majors and juniors. Howe er, there were no significant differences by demographical characteristics in perceptions of administrative support and social support as tutor roles. This study suggests utilizing tutoring strategies to emphasize learning and management supports for those learners who are high school graduates, newly admitted, and freshmen and especially, to provide tailored tutoring for freshmen to enhance the preparation of e-learning.
