윤대성의 청소년극에 나타나는 젠더문제 연구

국문 초록

윤대성 희곡에 나타나는 젠더문제에 대한 논의는 주로 1990년대 이후 발표된 노년드라마 작품들을 중심으로 이루어졌다. 이들 논의는 윤대성의 희곡에 젠더 문제가 나타난원인을 1990년대에 접어들면서 나타난 한국 가부장제의 변화와 맞물려 있는 것으로 보고, 사회의 변화에 민감한 작가가 이를 섬세한 시각으로 포착해 낸 것으로 해석하고 있다. 하지만 작가의 극작 동기가 외부적 요인만으로 결정되지 않는다는 점을 감안한다면, 1980년대에 발표된 청소년극 역시 작가의 젠더 의식을 밝혀내는 데에 있어 중요한 함의를 갖는다. 청소년은 가부장제 하에서 여성과 함께 오랫동안 타자의 위치에 있었다. 그런 의미에 서 이들은 의사여성에 가까우며 작가의 젠더 의식을 분석하는 데에 있어 중요한 단서를 제공한다. 윤대성의 청소년 뮤지컬 3부작 <방황하는 별들>, <꿈꾸는 별들>, <불타는 별들>에서 청소녀들은 자유로운 연애와 성애의 표상이자 정숙을 강요받는 균열된 모습으로 등장한다. 이는 가부장의 대리인으로 등장하는 청소년들과는 변별되는 모습이다. 결국 청소녀들은 가부장과 그들의 대리인을 자처하는 청소년들에 의해 이중적으로 소외되는 타자였다. 양성이 결코 평등하지 않게 묘사되는 이 작품이, 그럼에도 불구하고 당대 청소년들에게 폭발적인 인기를 누렸던 이유는 작가가 기성세대의 잘못을 폭로하고 가부장의 반성 을 이끌어 내고 있기 때문이다. 하지만 여전히 가부장의 후예들이 성장하고 있다는 면을 결코 간과해서는 안된다. 가족의 균열을 극복하고 가정을 재결합시키기 위한 가치로 사랑이 강조되고 있지만 여전히 타자에게서 비롯되는 것이며 남성중심적 시각에 기반하고 있다는 한계를 내포하고 있다.

영문 초록

The discussion on gender issues in Yoon Dae - sung drama mainly focused on works since the 1990s. These discussions connected the reason he paid attention to the gender issue with the change of the patriarchal system in Korea in 1990s and interpreted that the artist who is sensitive to the change of society had captured the gender problem through his delicate perspective. However, considering that the writer s motivation is not determined solely by external factors, the youth plays released in the 1980s also have an important implication. The youth was in the position of others for a long time with a woman under patriarchal system. In that sense, they have common denominator with women and provide important clues in analyzing the writer’s gender consciousness. In Yoon Dae-sung s youth musical trilogy, Wandering Stars, Dreaming Stars, and Burning Stars, the young women appeared as cracks in the representation of free love and sexuality and being forced to be saintly. This was different from the young men who appear as agents of patriarchy. In the end, the young women were battered by the patriarch and the young men. This work, which is described as never equal, is an explosive popularity among young people, because the artist revealed the mistakes of the old generation and led the reflection of the patriarch. Nevertheless, it should not be overlooked that the patriarch descendants were still growing. Love was emphasized as a value to overcome the cracks of the family and reunite the family, but it still came from the other and had the limitation that it was based on the male-centered view.
