국문 초록

최근 4차 산업혁명 시대의 도래를 예측하고, 여기에 대비한 교육개혁이 필요하다는 선언과 지적이 무성하다. 이 주장들은 4차 산업혁명이라는 교육 외적 환경을 교육개혁의 주요 요인으로 가정한다. 연구자는 4차 산업혁명을 교육이 바뀌어야 하는 요인이 아니라, 교육이 직면한 과제나 환경으로 이해해보고자 하였다. 이에 4차 산업혁명을 위해 교육을 개혁하자는 논의 대 신에, 4차 산업혁명 시대에 교육이 여전히 지켜야할 정체성과 역할들을 검토하였다. 이런 작업은 4차 산업혁명과 관련된 교육개혁 논리가 가지고 있는 도구주의적 한계를 극복하는 일환이다. 주지하듯이 한국의 초등교육은 19세기말 이래 보통교육과 무상의무교육이라는 정체성을 확립하였다. 그리고 이런 정체성에 입각하여, 초등교육은 기초교과교육, 진로탐색, 시민성의 교 육, 생활교육의 역할을 수행하였다. 4차 산업혁명 시대에도 이런 초등교육 정체성과 역할을 유지해야 할 것으로 판단된다. 4차 산업혁명 시대는 현재보다도 계층불평등이 심화되는 등, 인간다운 삶을 위한 최소한의 복지가 위협받을 가능성이 큰 시대이기 때문이다. 또한 위의 네 가지 초등교육의 역할들이 4차 산업혁명 시대에도 유효할 것으로 이해하였다. 왜냐하면, 4차 산업혁명 시대에도 인류가 다른 사람과 교류하며, 사회적 정치적 삶을 살아가는 것은 바뀌지 않을 것이기 때문이다. 4차 산업혁명 시대에 초등교육에서 강화되어야 할 역할도 물론 있다. 그것은 학생들이 4차 산업혁명 시대의 구체적 삶의 모습과 사회 환경을 선택하고 결정하게 하는 시민성 교육이다.

영문 초록

Recently, Many Researchers predict the coming of the 4th industrial revolution era, and emphasize the education reform that is prepared for this. These claims take the external environment of the 4th industrial revolution as a major factor in educational reform, not as a task or environment faced by education. Instead of discussing the reform of education for the 4th Industrial Revolution, I examined the identities and roles that education should still observe in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. This work is part of overcoming the limitations of the instrumental educational reforms related to the 4th Industrial Revolution. As we all know, since the end of the 19th century, elementary education in Korea has established the identity of ordinary education and free compulsory education. Based on this identity, elementary education played a role of basic curriculum, career search, civic education, and life education. The researchers felt that this identity of elementary education and its role should be maintained in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, there is a greater possibility that the minimum welfare for the human life is threatened, such as the stratified inequality is worsened. I also understood that the above four roles will be valid in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Because, in the 4th industrial revolution era, human will interact with other people and live a social and political life. There is, of course, an additional role that elementary education has to play in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. That is the strengthening of civic education that allows students to choose and decide the concrete life form and social environment of the 4th industrial revolution era they should live.
