북한의 규범문법 성립 과정에 관한 연구 – ‘자리토’와 ‘끼움토’의 설정을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 글에서는 북한의 규범 문법에서 ‘자리토-끼움토’의 체계가 성립하는 과정을 검토한다. 크게 본다면 조선어문법 1(1960)에서 설정한 ‘토-형태 조성의 접미사’라는 구도가 ‘위치토-비 위치토’를 거쳐 1970년대 규범 문법의 ‘자리토-끼움토’로 이어지는 것이라고 할 수 있겠다. 그리고 이 체계는 80년대의 소위 이론 문법에서도, 그리고 현재까지도 큰 수정 없이 받아들여지고 있다. 이 전 과정을 관통하는 핵심 개념은 ‘형태 조성’이다. 문장 내에서 한 단어가 다른 단어들과 맺는 문법적 관계는 ‘토’와의 결합을 통해 드러나는데 단어와 ‘토’의 결합형이 바로 그 단어의 (문법적) ‘형태’이고 ‘토’의 기능 역시 그러한 형태를 조성하는 데 있다는 것이다. 그리고 그가운데 문장성분의 결정에 관여하는 것이 ‘자리 토’ 그렇지 못한 것이 ‘끼움토’라는 것인데, 이러한 체계가 완성되어 가는 과정은 북한의 규범 문법이 성립하는 과정이기도 하다. 이 글에서는 이러한 체계가 형성되어 가는 과정에서 어떠한 이론적 논의들이 있었으며 그 와중에 배재된 것은 무엇인지 검토해 봄으로써 간접적으로 김일 성대학과 사회과학원이 북한 문법의 형성 과정 에서 어떤 역할을 했는지도 살펴보고자 했다. ‘토-형태조성의 접사’라는 구분, ‘위치토-비위치 토’의 설정 등은 모두 김수경의 논문이나 그가 관여한 문법서에서 비롯한 것이고 이것이 이후 북한 문법에 지대한 영향을 준다는 점에서 이른바 ‘김대 문법’이 제시한 이론을 ‘과학원 문법’이 수용해 갔다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 주요 문법적 단위들에 대한 입장, 즉 ‘토’의 품사 설정 여부,서술격 조사 ‘이다’와 피사동 접사의 처리 방식 등이 사회과학원 주도의 규범 문법에서 부정되 었다는 것은 양자의 일정한 긴장관계를 암시하는 대목이기도 하다.

영문 초록

This work examines the process of establishment of the “Jarito-Kkiumto” system in North Korea’s normative grammar. It can be broadly explained that the composition of the “To-morph developing suffix”, which was set out in the Joseon Language Grammar 1 (1960), was linked to the “Jarito-Kkiumto” of normative grammar in the 1970s after going through “Wichito-Biwichito”. In addition, this process was accepted without big modifications in the so-called theoretical grammar of the 1980s, and even to the present day. The core concept that underlies this whole process is called “Morph Development”. “Morph Development” is the idea that the grammatical relations by which a word combines with other words in a sentence are definitely revealed by the combination of a word with ”To”. The combination type of a word with “To” is the (grammatical) morph of the very word, and the function of “To” also lies in the development of the morph. Moreover, in the process of grammatical relations, an element that gets involved in the constitution of the sentence is “Jarito”, while one that does not is “Kkiumto”. The process by which this system is completed is also one of the mechanisms of North Korea’s normative grammar establishment. This study looks at the indirect antagonistic relations between KIM-IL-SUNG UNIVERSITY and North Korea’s Academy of Social Science in the process of North Korean grammar formation by examining the discussions surrounding the formation process of this system, and what was excluded in the process.
