민요 선후창 가창방식의 이해와 활용

국문 초록

이 글은 민요의 부르는 즐거움을 위하여 민요 가창방식의 활용 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 민요의 가창방식 중, 많은 비중을 차지하고 학교 교육에서도 중요하게 다루는 선후창 방식의 유동적 특징에 주목하여 민요가창 교육이 이루어질 수 있도록 활용 방안을 제시하였다. 선후창 방식의 깊이 있는 이해를 위하여 선후창 방식의 개념을 살펴보고 ‘한국 민요대전’ 전 지역 민요의 가창방식을 분석하였다. 이를 통해 가창방식의 전국적 양상과 선후창 방식의 다양한 활용 양상을 살펴보았다. 선후창 방식의 활용 양상을 살펴본 결과 가창 방식이 매우 유동적이어서 다른 가창방식으로 쉽게 넘나듦을 알 수 있었다. 선후창 방식을 가창자의 인적구성과 이의 활용을 기준으로 ‘선소리형 선후창’, ‘윤창형 선후창’, ‘집단형 선후창’으로 세분하였다. ‘선소리형 선후창’은 1: 다(多)의 인적 구성으로 한 사람이 주도하여 부르는 방식이다. ‘윤창형 선후창’은 돌아가며 메기는 방식으로 한 사람이 연행을 주도하는 것이 아니고 참여자들이 주도권을 나누어 가지는 가창방식이다. ‘집단형 선후창’은 다(多) : 다(多) 두 패로 나누어 메기고 받는 방식이다. 선후창 방식의 활용 방안 제시는 민요 가창의 단계를 ‘노래 익숙해지기 단계’, ‘부르기 단계’, ‘자기 노래로 부르기 단계’ 로 나누어 제시하였다. ‘듣고 익숙해지기 단계’는 전문가나 교사가 들려주는 민요를 반복하여 들으며 가사, 가락, 장단 등에 익숙해지는 단계이다. ‘부르기 단계’는 따라 부르기로 노래를 익히고 부르는 단계로. 선창자의 소리를 그대로 따라 부르는 복창식의 선소리형 선후창 방식으로 익힌 후 집단형 선후창 방식을 활용하여 익숙하게 부르는 단계이다. ‘자기 노래로 부르기 단계’는 노래에 자신의 느낌과 생각을 담아 멋스럽게 부르는 단계이다. 이 단계에서는 자기의 노랫말로 윤창형 선후창 방식으로 부르거나 가사 운용 방식까지 바꾸어 교환창, 윤창으로도 바꾸어 부를 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 이 연구가 현장 교사들이 민요 가창의 다양한 교수방법을 모색하는데 도움이 되길 기대한다.

영문 초록

This research aims to propose an application plan for the performing form of folk song to increase the joy of singing folk song. Among many performing forms, one major form which is very important in school education is the front and rear singing type. Focusing on the flexible characteristics of the front and rear singing type, application plans are proposed in order to carry out folk song singing education. For a profound understanding of the front and rear singing type, the notion of the front and rear singing type was examined and the singing types of folk songs from all regions in ‘Korea Folk Song Collection’. Through the observation, the nation-wide aspects of singing types and the various usages of the front and rear singing type were studied. After studying the application aspects of the front and rear singing type, the singing type was very flexible and it easily crossed to other singing types. The front and rear singing type was divided into three types, namely, ‘Sunsori-type front and rear singing type’, ‘Yunchang-type front and rear singing type’, and ‘collective front and rear singing type’ according to the organization of singers and the application. ‘Sunsori-type front and rear singing type’ is a type in which a lead singer leads the multiple other singers in the group. ‘Yunchang-type front and rear singing type’ is a type in which singers take turns in singing. ‘Collective front and rear singing type’ is a type in which two groups take turns in singing. For the application measures of the front and rear singing type, three steps are proposed: ‘familiarizing with the song’, ‘singing’, and ‘singing as if my story’. The ‘listening and familiarizing’ is the step when students listen to the singing of experts or a teacher over and over to get used to the lyric, rhythm, and melody. in the ‘singing’ step, students learn to sing by singing after the teacher and using collective front and rear singing type. The ‘singing as if my story’ is the step in which students put their feelings and thoughts into the song. In this step, students should be encouraged to change the lyric into their town and sing the song in yunchang-type front and rear singing type or even change the operating measure of the lyric and sing exchanging chang and yung chang. It is hoped that this research can be helpful for teachers to find various teaching methods when they are teaching folk song singing.
