수형자의 지역사회적응 결정요인에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 수형자들이 출소하여 지역사회적응을 위한 많은 노력들에도 불구하고 최근까지 재범률이 감소하지 않고 있다. 이에 수형자들의 개인적인 특성과 그들이 지역사회에 가지고 있는 욕구는 무엇인지, 수형자가 지역사회에 건강하게 적응할 수 있는 요인들을 분석하는 것이다. 수형자가 출소 후 지역사회에 적응하기 위해 자아통제력, 사회적지지, 동료관계를 긍정적인 요인 변수로 하고, 공격적 성향, 알코올문제, 부정적인 요인독립변수로 인구사회학적변수와 범행관련특성을 통제변수로 하여 연구모형을 검증하였다. 출소자의 지역사회적응에 영향을 미치는 공격적 성향은 사회적 지지와 동료관계수준이 높을수록 공격성은 낮게 나타났으며 사회적 지지 수준이 높을수록 지역사회적응 정도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이 중 공격적 성향과 사회적 지지는 다른 변수에 비해 큰 영향력을 나타냈으며 수형자의 지역사회적응을 설명하는 유용한 변수라는 것을 알 수 있다. 수형자에게 사회적지지는 자아통제력, 동료관계, 사회생활을 통해 지역사회적응에 직접적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 대인관계에서 수형자가 출소 후 자신의 행동을 완화시키는데 개인적 특성들이 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 의미한다.

영문 초록

Despite that prisoners make great efforts for community adaptation after being discharged from prisons, second offense rates have not decreased until recently. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to analyze prisoners’ personal characteristics, their demands from the community, and factors that enable prisoners to healthily adapt to the community. A study model was made using self-control, social support, and colleague relations as positive factor variables for prisoners’adaptation to the community after being discharged from prisons, aggressive tendencies and alcohol problems as negative factor variables, and sociodemographic variables and crime related characteristics as control variables and the study model was verified. Aggressive tendencies that affect discharged prisoners’community adaptation were shown to be lower when the levels of social support and colleague relations were high and higher levels of social support were shown to be associated with higher degrees of community adaptation. Aggressive tendencies and social support showed larger effects compared to other variables and could be identified as useful variables that explain prisoners’community adaptation. Social support was shown to have direct effects on prisoners through self-control, colleague relations, and social life. This means that personal characteristics play important roles for prisoners to relax their behaviors in personal relations after being discharged from prisons.
