인천에서의 여성운동

국문 초록

인천의 여성운동을 시기를 구분하여 고찰하였다. 1883년부터 1920년에 이르기까지의 인천의 여성운동에 가장 커다란 영향을 준 것은 기독교의 만민평등사상과 민족구국정신이었다. 만민평등사상에 바탕을 둔 여선교사의 활동은 계급타파, 남녀평등사상의 확산에 영향을 주었고, 신문화의 유입을 통한 세계문화와의 접촉은 전통사회의 모순이 지적되고 여성의 사회진출 의욕을 강화시킨다. 일본에 의한 치욕은 그 원인이 신학문을 보급하여 국가와 민족을 근대화시키지 못한 점에 있음이 지적되어 많은 사학이 설립돠고 그것은 교육을 통한 민족구국운동이었다. 1920년부터 해방되기까지 많은 여성단체가 조직되어 여성교육의 필요성, 소비절약, 물산장려, 과거의 폐풍타파, 여성의 경제적 자립 강조, 인신매매의 폐지, 혼인과 이혼자유 등의 여성해방운동을 전개한다. 인천영화학당 출신의 김활란, 서은숙, 김애마, 김영의 등의 활동은 돋보이며, 1927년 김활란을 중심으로 근우회가 조직되어 전국적이며 조직적인 여성운동을 한다. 해방이후 오늘에 이르기까지 여성의 지위확보를 위한 여성관련 행정조직은 발전 정비되고 여성 관련 입법은 상당한 변화를 가져왔다. 인천은 서울과 지리적으로 접근되어 있어 서울과의 밀접한 연관하에 여성운동이 전개되었고 또한 인천을 사랑하는 여성들의 헌신적 노력으로 여성의 삶은 질적인 면에서 커다란 향상을 가져왔다.

영문 초록

In this report, study on woman movement at city of Inchon was described by periodic order. From 1883 to 1920, the most influential factor on woman movement at Inchon as Christian eqalitarianism and national salvation movement. Female missionary, armed by eqalitarianism did a great role in this period to spread the thought of equality between man and woman, and abolition of class distinction in this period as. In addition, encounter with international environment caused by influx of so called new civilization disclosed the contradiction of traditional practice of Korea and enforced the participation of woman in public affairs. Recognition that invasion by Japan was due to losing a chance of new education and modernization became popular, and as the response, many private schools were established and national save-the-nation movement followed it. From 1920 to independence from Japan, many woman-related organizations were formed and expand the woman liberalization movement such as education for women, economy in consumption, break down of evil practice for women, economic self-supporting of woman, abolition of human trade, freedom of marriage and divorce and so on. Among those, activities of Helen Kim, Unsook Suh, Aema Kim, Youngui Kim from Inchon Younghwa School were one of the most outstanding. In 1927 Kunwoohoe(organization) was organized mainly by Helen Kim and performed nationwide campaign for women. From 1945 till now, administrative and legislation system for improvemant of status of women has been dramatically improved. For Inchon is geographically close by Seoul, and thanks to the devoted women at Inchon, life of woman in Korea has been greatly improved.
