국문 초록

자살은 자기 자신을 향해 치명적인 결과를 초래하는 자해행위이지만, 위태로운 상태에서 누군가에게 도와달라고 하는 사람의 요청이다. 청소년 자살의 심각성은 ‘미래 세대의 죽음’이라는 점에서 인적, 경제적 손실과 함께 미래의 국가경쟁력이나 발전을 위협하는 요인이 된다. 청소년기에 심리적 문제들은 성인과 노년기까지 연결되며, 이는 청소년기에 자살생각을 가진 학생은 성인이 되어서도 자살을 시도할 위험이 있다는 의미이다. OECD에서는 자살사망률의 국가 비교 결과 31개국 아동 · 청소년(10세-24세)의 자살률이 한국의 경우 급증하고 있어 청소년 자살의 심각성이 대두되었고, 그에 따른 예방대책이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 본 연구는 늘어나는 청소년의 자살을 줄이고 예방하고자 자살예방을 위한 프로그램을 개발하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 문헌 고찰을 통해 자살에 대한 개념 정의와 어떤 영향으로 자살을 하게 되는지 사회학적 · 심리학적 · 철학적 · 종교적 차원에서의 여러 학자들의 이론적 배경을 살펴보았다. 또한 자살시도자의 특성을 알아보았으며, 청소년의 자살행동 주요요인으로 애착, 절망감, 대인관계, 자아존중감이 연관성이 있는 것으로 고찰되었다. 이에 따라 자살은 예방하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다는 견지에서 청소년을 자살로부터 보호할 수 있는 방안으로 청소년과 부모가 함께 자살예방 프로그램에 참여하여 생명존중 가치관을 심어주고 건강하고 행복한 삶을 영위할 수 있도록 제시하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

Suicide is a self-injurious behavior to produce fatal consequences to oneself, and that is the person s request to help himself or herself. When it comes to the gravity of youth suicide, that is personal and economic loss and poses a threat to future national competitiveness or development in that it is the death of the future generation. Psychological problems that take place in adolescence continue to last even in adulthood and old age. It implies that students who think of suicide in adolescence are also likely to attempt suicide when they become adult. The OECD compared 31 countries in terms of suicide death rate, and there is a rapid increase in the suicide rate of Korean children and adolescents who are aged between 10 and 24. Thus, the seriousness of youth suicide is increasingly stressed, and it s desperately needed to take preventive measures. The purpose of this study was to develop a suicide-prevention program in an effort to lessen and prevent youth suicide. Literatures were analyzed to make a definition of the concept of suicide, and theories of various scholars were analyzed as well to look into what affects suicide in sociological, psychological, philosophical and religious dimensions. The characteristics of suicide attempters were investigated, and it s found that attachment, despair, interpersonal relationships and self-esteem were the major factors to be linked to youth suicidal behavior. The prevention of suicide seems more important than anything else, and it s meant in this study to encourage teens and their parents to participate in a suicide-prevention program together as a way to protect them against suicide and help them to acquire the values of life esteem to lead a healthy and happy life.
