영문 초록
In undertaking this study, the writer became aware of the following problems in the department, of theology, the Hoseo college. (1) The students, in general, are not adapted themselves to their study of theology. (2) They are not strongly charged with mission and ministry in future. And (3) they have merely deficit and inward motive.
The above stated problems dictated the formulation of this study with the following purposes in mind. (1) To develop a theory of growth psychology. And (2) to make a method to change the deficit motive.
The writer was concerned with growth psychology in this study. Most growth psychologists do not deny that exernal stimuli, in stuncts, and childhood conflicts influence personality, however, they do not believe that human beings are unchangeable victims of these forces. Man can and must rise above his past, his biological nature, and the features of his environment. He must develop and grow beyond these potentially inhibiting forces. The growth psychologist s view of human nature is optimistic and hopeful. They believe in human capacity for expanding, enriching, developing, and fulfilling himself, to become all he is capable of becoming. Accordingly, the writer believes that it is possible to change the dificit motive of the students.
The writer suggests a method, to change the motivation of students, was the influence of the peer group . This method has several advatages. (1) The bechavior of associates does exert tremendous power over the students, And (2) changing several people at the same status level in the College introduces the possibility of continuing reinforcement of the behavioral changes. (3) The possibility of discovering an acceptable solution caIIing for change is greater in groups not inhibited by authority figures.
However, the writer points out that the major error In dealing with problems of group counselling, both at the practical and theoretical level, is disregard the systemic approach.
