국문 초록

본 논문은 王蒙의 《紅樓夢》 비평이 當代紅學에서 자리하는 位相을 살펴보는데 그 목적을 두었다. 王蒙은 당대중국의 걸출한 작가이자 문학 비평가이다. 그의 문학비평은 90년대 이전까지는 주로 당대문학의 창작⋅문학이론⋅문학현상에 집중되어 있었는데, 90년대 들어서면서부터 《紅樓夢》 비평으로까지 확대되었다. 王蒙은 풍부한 인생 경험과 창작 경험을 바탕으로 1991년에 《紅樓啓示錄》을 펴낸 이후 현재에 이르기까지 《紅樓夢》 비평에 관한 방대한 분량의 글을 발표하였는데, 그의 《紅樓夢》 비평은 ‘王氏紅學’이라고 불릴 만큼 관점과 방식 면에서 다른 비평가들과는 확연하게 구별되는 독특한 개성을 지니고 있다. 창작에 종사했던 작가이면서 《紅樓夢》을 비평하였다는 점과 ‘王氏紅學’이라고 불릴 만큼 개성 있는 비평을 하였다는 점은 우리들의 주의를 끌기에 충분하다. 王蒙의 《紅樓夢》 비평은 당대홍학연구에 위치시켜야만 그 의미를 분명하게 드러낼 수 있으므로 본고에서는 먼저 당대홍학연구의 현황을 槪觀하였으며, 王蒙의 《紅樓夢》 비평을 구체적으로 분석하기에 앞서 그의 창작과 문학비평에 대해 간략히 언급한 후, 그의 비평을 ‘紅學연구에 대한 인식’⋅‘기본 관점’⋅‘구체적 내용’⋅‘방식’ 등으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 이를 통하여 作家의 學者化를 지향하고 있는 王蒙의 《紅樓夢》 비평은 텍스트를 중시하여 《紅樓夢》을 소설 그 자체로 해석하고자 한 점과 인간과 인생의 문제를 비평의 핵심으로 삼고 있다는 점, 그리고 당대의 시대의식과 가치관에 입각하여 비평하고자 하였다는 점과 大衆과의 소통을 중시하였다는 점 등을 그 특징으로 추출해낼 수 있었다. 이와 같은 王蒙의 《紅樓夢》 비평은 危機와 困境에 처해있다고 진단되고 있는 당대홍학연구에 활기를 불어넣음으로써 《紅樓夢》 비평의 올바른 방향을 제시하는 일종의 出路와도 같은 의미를 지닌다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the status of Wang Meng(王蒙)’s critique of Dream of Red Mansions(紅樓夢) in the contemporary Redology. Wang Meng was a highly prominent writer and literary critic of the time. Before 1990’s, his literature critique mainly dealt with literature creation, literature theory, and literary phenomenon of the contemporary literature. In 1990’s, however, his work has been expanded to critique on Dream of Red Mansions. Since publishing HongLouQiShiLu(紅樓啓示錄) in 1991 based on his rich life experiences and literature creation, he has produced a massive amount of critiques on Dream of Red Mansions. His critique is even called Wang s Redology as it is distinctively unique, sharply different from other critics perspective and styles. His work deserves our attention since he was a writer himself and reviewed Dream of Red Mansions, which was absolutely unique to be called Wang s Redology. This paper firstly offers a general overview of the states of the contemporary Redology as it is necessary to clarify the meaning of Wang Meng s critique of Dream of Red Mansions. Before the actual analysis of his critique, his creation and literature criticism were briefly presented. Then his critique was analyzed in terms of his attitude in research of Redology, his main perspective, specific contents and styles. This approach revealed that Wang Meng who pursued writer s scholarization emphasized the text and analyzed Dream of Red Mansions as a novel itself and that he focused on issues of humans and life as the core of critique. In addition it was found that his review was based on the awareness of the issues and values of that time and that he regarded communication with the public as important. Likewise Wane Meng s critique on Dream of Red Mansions rejuvenated the Redology which was confronted with a crisis and predicament and offered a kind of way out by showing a right direction for critique of Dream of Red Mansions.
