국문 초록

본 논문에서는 한국에서 종교적 신앙심이 행복추구에 미치는 영향력의 본질에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 학제간 융합연구를 시도하였다. 우선 첫 번째 단계에서는 사회학적 통계 분석을 통해 한국인의 종교 생활 중 행복감 증진에 가장 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 변수를 연구하였다. 그 결과 종교적 신앙심이 한국인의 행복감 증진에 가장 긍정적 영향 을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 두 번째 단계에서는 신앙심이 행복감 증진에 미치는 역할을 설명하기 위해 신앙심의 본질에 관한 세 가지 철학이론 (희망이론, 신뢰이론, 개혁주의 인식론)을 소개하였다. 본 논문에서는 이 중 희망이론이 한국인의 종교생활과 행복추구에 가장 바람직한 영향을 미칠 수 있을 것이라고 주장하였다.

영문 초록

In this paper, we endeavor to explicate the role that faith (religious faith) plays in the promotion of happiness among religious practitioners in Korea. To achieve this goal, we adopt an interdisciplinary approach: we combine statistical data offered by a sociological survey with conceptual analyses offered by philosophical theories. According to the results of our sociological survey, the aspect of religious life which plays the most significant role in the promotion of happiness in Korea is religious faith (simply, ‘faith’). The nature of faith, however, is not uniformly understood by philosophers. In this paper, we will examine three theories of faith to be found in the philosophy of religion: the hope-based theory, the fiducial theory, and reformed epistemology. We will argue that the hope-based theory of faith can bear the most fruitful results in the pursuit of happiness in Korea.
