국립국악원의 정재 전승양상

국문 초록

본고는 개원이후 국립국악원의 정재 전승양상을 살펴봄으로써 국립국악원 창작정재의 수용범위와 방법론을 찾는 데 기초자료로서 도움을 주기 위한 목적으로 작성되었다. 이를 위해 개원이후 2012년까지의 국립국악원 무용단 정기공연 관련 기록물(공연 프로그램, 생산 문서 등)과 관련 문헌을 근거로 하여 정재 전승양상을 살펴본 결과 재구성정재의 수용시기(1952~1976년), 재현정재를 통한 콘텐츠 확충시기(1977~2004년), 정재의 창조적 변용시기(1991~현재) 등으로 정리되었다. 이왕직아악부를 통해 전승된 정재종목은 12종이었으며, 국립국악원 개원 이후 개최되었던 [국악감상회] 공연을 통해 김천흥이 재구성한 정재가 수용되어 국립국악원의 정재 레퍼토리로 정착되었다. 1980년 이후 본격적으로 추진된 정재 재현작업으로 총44종목의 정재가 재현되어 국립국악원 정재의 맥을 이었을 뿐만 아니라 정재 콘텐츠 확충에도 크게 기여하였다. 1991년 첫 창작정재 <화평지무>가 발표된 이후 2012년까지 수차례에 걸쳐 총 18작품의 창작정재(혹은 정재변주, 창작춤 )가시도되었다. 이는 창작의 원천으로서 전통을 어떻게 창조적으로 변용할 것인가에 대한 고민의 산물이다. 본 연구의 결과는 창작정재에 대한 찬반의견이 분분한 가운데 전통의 보존에만 머물지 않고 새로운 전통을 만들어 나가야 하는 과제를 안고 있는 국립국악원이 창작정재 창조의 수용 범위와 방법론을 찾아가는 데 작은 도움이 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper is aimed at forming a fundamental material to help seeking the methodology and the acceptable extent of Jeongjae(court dance) created by National Gugak Center. In order to do so, I have examined the transmission aspects of Jeongjae by National Gugak Center(NGC) conducted since its opening to 2012, on the basis of the regular performance-related records, such as performance programs and producing documents. As a result, it can be described in different periods: A period(1952-1976) that the reconstituted Jeongjae was accepted, a period(1977-2004) that the contents were expanded while reproducing Jeongjae, and a period(1991~) that Jeongjae went through creative transformation. There were 12 events in Jeongjae transmitted by Yiwangjik Aakbu, and Jeongjae that Kim Cheon-heung reconstituted for regular performance, Gugak Gamsanghoi, which was conducted since the establishment of NGC, settled as the repertories of Jeongjae by NGC. Jeongjae began to be reproduced in earnest since 1980, and as a result, 44 events were reproduced, which greatly contributed to expanding the Jeongjae contents as well as to carrying on the transmission. From 1991, when the first center s original Jeongjae, Hwapyeongjimu was introduced, to 2012, 18 works of Jeongjae(or Jeongjae variation, Changjakchum) were undertaken. This is due to deep concerns of how to creatively transform the tradition as the source of creation. While there are pros and cons on created Jeonjae, National Gugak Center has a difficult task of creating new traditions, not only of preserving the traditions. This paper would be a little help in seeking the methodology and the acceptable extent of created Jeongjae.
