국문 초록

우리나라에서도 많은 기업들이 경쟁력 확보를 위해서 연구 및 기술개발의 강도를 높이고 있으며, 그 결과 중의 중요한 성과가 바로 특허이다. 본 연구에서는 2008년말 기준으로 특허청에 등록된 기업 특허 자료를 기반으로 수행되었으며, 주요 연구주제 및 목적은 기업 특허의 규모와 특허 생산성에 관한 특성을 고찰하고 이들 항목이 기업 성과에 연결되는지를 실증 분석하는 것이었다. 본 연구에서의 분석 결과, 우리나라의 광범위한 기업군의 특허에 대한 개략적 특성이 통계적으로 도출 되었다. 가설검증 결과에서는, 특허기업에서 보유하고 있는 특허 규모는 상대적으로 중소기업군보다는 대기업군에서 더 컸으나, 업력이 오래된 기업군보다는 짧은 기업군에서 오히려 특허 규모가 크게 나타났다. 또한 종업원당 특허규모로 본 특허 생산성은 종업원수가 작은 기업과 매출액 규모가 작은 기업군에서 높게 나타났다. 그리고 특허수가 많은 기업군에서 평균 순이익 및 영업이익이 높게 나타나서 특허가 경영성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 특성을 갖는 것으로 분석되었다. 다만, 특허 생산성이 높다고 해서 반 드시 경영 성과가 높은 것은 아니었으므로, 특허의 활용성 등을 추가한 향후 연구주제가 제기되었다.

영문 초록

In this study, we analyze the some characteristics related on the Korean firm s patent, and the number of patents granted to Korean firms and management performance. The source data are from the Korean Intellectual Property Office and Korean Credit Evaluation Information Company. Some hypotheses were derived from the literature review, and analysed empirically. For the purpose of proving those hypotheses, the 228,653 patents granted to 4,164 Korean firms are included in the statistic analysis. Major results are as follows. The more patents are granted the large firms and younger aged firms group than the small & medium size firms group. As for the patent productivity, patent numbers per employees, the small and medium size firms group shows the more high than the large firms one, also the younger firms group does. Management performance, mean net profit during the 4 years from FY2005 to FY2008, was more high as the many patents firms group. Finally, the hypotheses related on whether the higher patent productivity firms group shows the more management performance or not, cannot be adopted.
