아우구스티누스와 코메니우스 사상에 나타난 영성교육의 의미 고찰

국문 초록

이 연구는 아우구스티누스의 <고백록>과 코메니우스의 범교육 사상을 중심으로 영성 및 영성교육의 의미를 고찰하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 아우구스티누스는 <고백록>을 통하여 자신의의지적, 지적 한계, 특히 죽음 앞의 연약함을 성찰하며 하나님의 은혜의 도움이 필연적임을 자각한다. 아울러 그는 어머니, 친구, 스승들과의 이야기의 나눔을 통해 자아의 성숙과 타인의 성 숙이 함께 발생함을 보여준다. 코메니우스는 인간의 목적은 하나님의 형상을 회복하는 것이며 이는 근본적으로 하나님과의 관계 안에서 지성, 덕성, 경건의 씨앗을 조화롭게 함양함으로써 달성할 수 있다고 본다. 또한 그는 인간의 삶은 이론과 실천, 모든 시간적 차원과 공간적 차원, 자신-타인-하나님이 연결된 총체로서 하나님의 형상을 실현하는 종합적 안목의 영성은 이 삶 의 통전성(通全性, integrity)을 인식함으로써 이루어진다고 본다. 본고는 양자를 종합하여 영성교육은 첫째, 자신과 인간의 정체성과 목적, 그 한계와 극복방향에 대한 성찰과, 둘째, 인간 및 세계의 관계성 및 통전성에 대한 종합적 안목과, 셋째, 삶의 초월성과 창조성을 추구하여야 함을 제시한다. 이러한 영성교육은 근본적으로 오늘날 목적에 상관없이 누가 더 많이, 더 빨리 성 과를 산출해내느냐의 양적, 도구적 가치관을 극복하고 어떤 행위의 의미와 지향점을 숙고하게하는 힘을 주며, 삶의 역경을 극복하고 가시적인 세계를 초월하여 보며 개인주의적 자세를 지양하고 자신과 세계를 폭넓게 연관하여 볼 수 있는 통전적 안목(integral perspective)을 함양할것이라고 본다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning of spirituality and spiritual education around the Augustinian and Pan-educational ideas of Comenius. Augustine reflects the weakness of his own will, intellectual limitations, especially the fundamental fear of death with the awareness the inevitable help of God s grace. In addition, he shows that maturation of self occurs with maturation of others through the sharing of stories with his mother, friends, and teachers. Comenius argues that the human purpose is to restore the image of God, which fundamentally in our relationship with God should be achieved by harmoniously cultivating the seeds of intelligence, virtue and piety. He also observes that human life is the related totality of theory and practice, all of the temporal dimension and spatial dimension, and of self-others-God, so the spirituality as a comprehensive perspective to realize the image of God should recognize this related totality of life. This paper, through synthesizing both thinkers, shows that, first, spiritual education should pursue individual and human identity and purpose with their limitations and the reflection to overcome them. Second, it should pursue the comprehensive perspective of the relativity and totality of human and the world. Third, it should enhance the observation on the transcendence and creativity of the life. This spiritual education fundamentally overcomes the quantitative and instrumental values of nowadays that calculate more, and more quickly, regardless of fundamental purposes. It gives the power of the contemplation of the meaning and orientation of any act. It also enhances the power to overcome various hardships and temptations in life through looking beyond the visible world. Finally it pursues to avoid an individualistic attitude and fosters a holistic perspective to observe a wide range of self, others, the world, the nature and even God
