영문 초록

This study tried to analyse the generation and characteristics of the deteriorated residential areas in a medium sized city of the rural region and to find out the residents' desire oriented redevelopment(RDOR). As research method, it is firstly carried out the literature survey about the residential environment improvement program(REIP), how the physical improvement was accomplished. And secondly, it is investigated the residents' desire oriented redevelopment policy for the deteriorated residential areas by means of residents interview and questionnaire. In this process, it is confirmed that the generation of the deteriorated residential areas in Gunsan is closely related in the historical events, like as ]apanese Colonization, Korean War and the regional industrial growth. Their characteristics are differentiated by the physical, social, economic and demographic structures
