국문 초록

20세기를 대표하는 철학자 Heidegger, 고대에서 19세기에 이르는 전 서양정신사 안의 기존 가치들을 전도시키고자 했던 Nietzsche, 18세기의 Kant, 중세의 Augustinus, 고대의 Aristoteles에 이르기까지, 이들 모두는 ‘왜, 무엇을 위하여’ 존재와 시간문제로 고민하며 그토록 많은 지면을 할애하고 시간을 투자해야만 했던가? 인간현존의 시간성, 즉 하이데거의 지적대로 인간의 탄생과 죽음 사이에 선 불안하고 두려운 중간자로서의 실존적 한계상황 때문이리라. 그리하여 실존적 한계상황의 극복 가능성을 모색하고자 하는 염원의 발로이리라. 그들의 일원으로서 여기 소개된 두 사람 역시 극복의 염원과 함께 그 가능성을 모색했다. 그러나 그들은 서로 상반된 길을 택했다. 극복 가능성의 상반된 두 길을 동시에 따라가 보는 것은 매우 흥미로우며, 그 의의가 크리라.

영문 초록

Why did so many scholars - from Heidegger, the philosopher who represented the 20th Century, to Nietzsche who overturned the history of Western philosophy stretching from ancient times to the 19th century, to Kant of the 18th Century, to Augustinus of the Medieval Period, including even Aristoteles of ancient times - invest so much time and fill so many pages speculating about the time and space? It must be because of human kind limited existential temporality, as Heidegger pointed out the anxiety and fear of being placed between birth and death. It must be a manifestation of the ardent desire find a way to overcome the limits of existential temporality. Here 1 will introduce two people who like the above mentioned philosophers, have sought a way to overcome our temporal limitations. These two people chose conflicting paths. It is both fascinating and important to investigate these two conflicting paths into the possibility of overcoming temporal limits.
