국문 초록

본고에서 필자는 기호학(semiotics)과 구성주의(constructivism) 이론을 도입하여 기록과 기록관리 행위의 다양한 성격과 사회적 역할에 대해 살펴보았다.구체적으로 레코드 컨티뉴엄(Records Continuum) 이론의 의미와 의의를 검토하는 작업을 병행하면서 쿡(Terry Cook)의 증거, 기억, 정체성, 공동체 각 패러다임 사이의 상호 구성성에 대한 논의를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 특별히 ‘성리학적 구성주의’ 개념을 도입했다. 이를 위해 필자는 먼저 기록을 기호학(semiotics)에서 말하는 기호(sign)로서 그리고 기록관리 행위를 '기호작용(semiosis)' 과정으로 이해하는 관점을 제시했다. 레코드 컨티뉴엄은 기록과 기록관리 행위의 의미가 작은 업무 영역에서 출발하지만 의미의 관계망을 통해 우주의 질서와 연계되는 것을 상정한다. 이는 성리학에서 끊임없는 음양오행의 운동과 이기의 조화와 함께 천인합일의 우주질서를 작동시키는 것과 같은 사유체계라고 할 수 있다.쿡(Terry Cook)은 증거, 기억, 정체성, 공동체의 상호 구성성에 대해 주장했다. 이 구성의 중심에 서는 것이 무엇보다도 아키비스트의 역할이다. 그는 기록학의 패러다임 변화에서 중심 화두 중의 하나인 ‘아키비스트의 능동성’의 개념을강조했다. 그는 사회 정체성 구성의 기제로서의 기록과 기록관리 행위의 사회적 역할에 주목하였다. 필자는 이러한 관점들을 퍼스의 기호학 이론과 기든스의 구조화 이론을 결합시켜 조명해 보고자 하였다. 본고에서 살펴본 바와 같이 필자는‘성리학적 구성주의’ 개념을 통해 이러한 이론의 조합을 보완할 수 있음을 강조했다. 레코드 컨티뉴엄은 그 이론의 보완을 위해 성리학에 들어 있는 많은 사유의관점을 ‘타산지석’화 할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

In this article I emphasized the position seeing the records andarchives as sign. Through that we can understand the essence of therecords and archives from the multiple perspectives. It can make thearchives management as creative activity. I think that the semiotics,especially in terms of meaning-making is very useful to explain theparadigm shift of the records/archives management and archivalscience. In the time of paradigm shift of the records/archivesmanagement and archival science, mainly due to the emergence ofthe electronic records and postmodernism, people began to focusespecially on the value of the ‘active and creative role’ of thearchivists in the archival activities. This 'active and creative role'meant and means principally a contrast to the way of understandingof the archivist as the so called passive keeper of records andarchives. Due to the semiotics theory of Charles Pierce and thestructuration theory of Anthoney Giddens we can understand the social role of records and archives management in the sense ofvariety and creativity very systematically. I stressed the usefulnessof the Sunglihak theory for the explanation of this kind of characterof records and archives management.The Sunglihak is focused on giving answer to this question. TheSunglihak includes Li and Gi theory on the one hand, and Yin andYang / 5 elements theory on the other hand. This explains the roleof records and archives management for the construction of identityand community very systematically. We can also understand thevalue and meaning of the records continuum from the perspective ofSunglihak very logically. The theory of the records continuum can besupplemented by the Sunglihak theory very systematically.
