淸州地域 高麗時代 土壙墓 受容背景과 造營勢力

국문 초록

본고는 청주지역을 중심으로 고려시대 토광묘 조영집단에 대하여 고찰하고자 하였다. 청주는 후삼국 및 고려시대에 중앙과 지방에 대한 문헌사적인 자료가 비교적 많이 남아있을 뿐만 아니라 분묘자료를 비롯한 고고학적인 자료가 풍부한 지역이다. 그러나 두 자료 형태를 통하여 종합적으로 역사적 맥락에 대하여 함께 검토된 바가 없었다. 고려시대 분묘형태 가운데 하나인 토광묘는 기존의 전통적인 석축묘와는 다른 요소를 확인할 수 있다. 요갱이나 편방(偏旁)시설이 존재하며 출토유물상에서 동경, 청동숟가락, 동전, 가위 등 생활용구를 중심으로 부장되는 특징을 보이고 있다. 이러한 유물은 북방문화권에 해당하는 요 및 금의 문화상과 유사함을 보이고 있어 상호 관련성이 있는 것으로 판단된다. 새로운 문화의 수입으로 도입된 묘제가 청주지역에서 이른 시기부터 등장하고 있음은 청주지역과 중앙과의 긴밀한 관계가 상정되는 바이다. 청주는 문헌기록상 재경세력과 재지세력의 존재가 뚜렷한 지역의 하나이다. 청주 출신 재경세력은 현재 청주읍성을 중심으로 하는 상당구일대를 호족적 기반으로 하여 활동하고, 재지세력은 청주 김씨 세력으로 여겨지는데, 「龍頭寺幢竿記」의 내용처럼 일대를 거점으로 확고한 지위를 차지하였다. 청주 김씨 세력과 관련지을 수 있는 분묘군은 용암유적내 금천동으로, 청주읍성에서 금천동 토광묘군까지의 거리는 2㎞이다. 이는 금천동유적 일대가 청주 김씨 세력의 족적인 매장지일 가능성을 높여주는 것이다. 이러한 비정이 타당하다면 청주 지방을 중심으로 활동한 재지세력인 청주 김씨 호족집단의 분묘형식은 토광묘로 파악할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper is designed for investigating a construction group of Pit burials in Cheongju region in Goryeo period. There are a number of scholarly data of central and local governments during the Later Three Kingdoms and Goryeo periods as well as plenty of excavated data of pit burials and pit burials with a stone outer-coffin have been reported in Cheongju region. However, comprehensive study for revealing the historical context based on the two types of data is rarely attempted. Different elements from traditional burials built with stone have been reported in the pit burials of Goryeo. In particular, facilities such as a Yogaeng(腰坑, a small pit for burial furnishings) and a niche, and burial furnishings mainly consisting of household items such as a bronze mirror, spoon, and coins, and scissors are characteristics of pit burials of Goryeo. These items sharing similarities with those of Chinese states of Liao and Chin might imply interrelationships with northern China. The fact that a new burial style introduced with a new culture appeared early in Cheongju region could be a basis to suppose a close relationship between Cheongju and central government. Based on historical documents, it is certain that there were a group staying in the capital area and a group in local areas in Cheongju. While the group staying in the capital from Cheongju was a powerful local clan based on around current Sangdang district centering town fortress of Cheongju, the local group has been considered as that of Kim clan originated in Cheongju which maintained firm status at the region as mentioned in Yongdusadanggakngi(龍頭寺幢竿記, A Record for a Pole at a Buddhist Temple named Yongdusa). Distance from a main base of Cheongju Kim clan to a burial complex at Geumcheon-dong, mainly consisting of pit burials is only about 2Kim. Accordingly, there is a high possibility that the area around the Geumcheondong Site is a gravesite of Cheongju Kim clan. In conclusion, a view that burial type of the Cheongju Kim clan, which mainly exercised influence around Cheongju region, was a pit burial is quite probable.
