영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to aim a method to enhance regional competitiveness through regional characteristic development of 31 cities in Gyeongi-do. Strengthening regional competitiveness, as a plan to secure the region-level growth power and make a region to grow spontaneously, is an important political task for not only the national government but local government as well along with balanced development of national territory. The major goal of this study is to understand regional characteristics and the level of specialization of 31 cities in Gyeonggi-do and based on this, deduct a plan to strengthen regional competitiveness of a concerned local government and present a political proposal. For regional characteristics analysis, 28 indexes in total 6 parts, economic, personnel, environment, public, culture and welfare element, were selected, cluster analysis was conducted by collecting data using the statistical year book of Gyeonggi-do, data of Gyeonggi-do and data from preceding studies and standardizing each data and then 31 cities were classified into 6 groups (6 clusters). The 1st cluster appeared that 5 elements are lower than the average of Gyeonggi-do except the environmental element which was slightly higher than the aveage of Gyeonggi-do. The 2nd cluster showed that the personnel, environmental and public element were slightly higher than the average of Gyeonggi-do but the rest elements did not reach the average of Gyeonggi-do. The 3rd cluster appeared that the economic, environment and welfare element were higher than the average of Gyeonggi-do but the personnel, public and culture element were low. The 4th cluster presented that the economic,personnel and cultural element were higher than the average of Gyeonggi-do but the environmental,public and welfare element were below the average of Gyeonggi-do. The 5th cluster appeared that every element but the personnel element was lower than the average of Gyeonggi-do. The 6th cluster showed that the personnel and environmental element were lower than the average of Gyeonggi-do but the economic, public, cultural and welfare element were significantly higher than the average of Gyeonggi-do.
